I've found that people who talk about "code smell" generally should not be listened to as it's entirely vibes-based-on-the-last-medium-post-i-read-this-morning. I had a dipshit manager tell me that he didn't like my use of decorators (in python mind you) because it was a "code smell" and recommended I read "clean" code, and I immediately threw every other opinion he had in the trash.

I literally can't even.

As someone who spent countless hours of my youth in hammer, laying out areas with props and lighting and doing play testing about areal movement with test npcs, it's hilarious that these people see this slop and say, yes this is the future.

also : "I’m working on a theory that “AI is art” boosters have some kind of limited ability to perceive details. Like they literally only perceive large shapes, colors, and noises. Anything remotely more detailed than ‘big thing go boom’ they actually lack the ability to see it." 🤔🤔🤔

fyi: some fellow forked all of the sentry stuff from when it was bsd and made it less shit to run yourself. I'd been running sentry as self hosted since it came out effectively and they made some real ~~questionable~~ outright bad architecture decisions over the years that made running sentry super annoying to get you to use the saas product. Like yes I want to use Cassandra and elastic search for my one user error logging

there's been something that's really been rubbed me the wrong way about jeff in the last few years. he was annoying before and had some insights but lately I've been using him as a sort of a jim crameresque tech-take-barometer.

What really soured me was after he started picking fights with some python people a few years back because someone dared post that a web framework? (couldn't dig up the link) was a greater contribution to the world than S/O? His response was pretty horrid to the point where various python leaders were telling to stop being a massive dick because he was trying to be a bully with this "do you know who I am" attitude because he personally had not heard of the framework so it wasn't acshually at all that relevant compared to S/O.

and now this combined with his stupid teehee I am giving away my wealth guise look how altruistic I am really is a bit eugh

From my understanding and experience each device you're logged into gets the hardware survey a few times a year.

I wonder why his 10000 agents haven't done the work yet. It seems like such a straightforward plan.

Unironically their greatest movie.

Its a full linux os, so you can do literally anything that can be done with existing tooling. For example, I have syncthing installed on mine so i just have to drop files into a folder on another computer of mine and they show up.

The software folks have put together a decent experience in the last few years and its rather nice out of the box.

Glad i did not go with these guys when i was e-reader shopping, the lack of gpl sources was enough for me.

Went with a pinenote because the timing was good, and while it has some corners I dont except the debian install to become a ccp mouthpiece 🙃

Man this company has had some really interesting ideas and then the execution always falters.

I was still subscribed when the first eve-fps crossover they attempted. it seemed great and then for whatever reason a console exclusive with a subscription fee ontop. They didnt get the numbers they were planning for and the whole thing just died on the vine.

They've had some neat tech here and there and the whole experience is great for building out your psychopathy but i lost interest after the Greed Is Good phase of CCCP games started.
