Things get really unintuitive when you go near the speed of light. Einstein's "Special Relativity" is describing that. Watch a couple of videos on the topic. It's mindbending but seriously cool.

In short: The speed light is always constant FOR EVERY OBSERVER. That means, if you would hold a flashlight in a very fast moving train, the light would travel as the same speed for you as for a stationary person that is watching your flashlight from outside the train.

But how could that be? Aren't you "adding" the trains speed to your flashlight? So shouldn't the light in your train travel faster in your train? Or maybe slower? No. Light speed is always constant - but what is NOT constant is space and time. It is relative to the observer. Time and space can stretch/dilate to make up for what seems to be a paradox. E.g. your trains would shrink in length the faster you go. But it would look different to you than it does to an outside observer.

As I said, it's mindbending, but there are a couple of cool and simple videos on the internet to get a better grasp on the matter.

OP was asking?! đŸ€·

If you just want to mock me, think of something more original... I mean, come on. You call that a "joke"?

See, here is where I would immediately be skeptical about the article:

enzymes that make the digestion of protein incredibly difficult

Enzymes are protein structures and are therefore very susceptible to heat. (I.e. when you would cook an egg and it turns "white" this is proteins beeing degenerated by heat)

You would NEVER eat raw soy (or other legumes thereof). They should always get cooked thoroughly. And in tofu production, you would also cook the soy milk in the process.

I'm not 100% knowledgeable about these specific proteins, but it sounds like big strawman to me from the getgo.

For me, it's like flipping a coin. In 50% of the time, my encounters play out like that - or they would play out like that if I was pushing for further discussion. The other 50% people seem to be genuinely interested and ask questions. However, they mostly want to have a conversation but are not in a mental state where they would want to "understand" what I am saying.

On the other hand, I have some training in discussing vegan topics, so I am slightly prepared to not let discussions derail that often.

This would incentivise instances to keep growing, as more users would potentially mean more income. I don't think that this is a good idea as it conflicts the decentralized nature of the fediverse.

I would suggest that we promote donations more. Seriously, nobody is talking about that stuff.

Furthermore, "money" doesn't always fix a communities infrastructure issues - people do. Most of the time, admins are a one-person-army. If people would take over work (like moderation, implementing helpful features in code, ...) more often, that might help out the admins more than just throwing money at them.

It is the same as with a lot of open source communities: It's not all about the money, it's about people getting active and involved and helping each other out.

It is a pixel canvas where people can draw stuff collectively. But they have to wait a longer time between a user can draw pixels.
