A single nasal spray vaccine could protect against all coughs, colds and flus, as well as bacterial lung infections, and may even ease allergies, say US researchers.

Education should be for learning and developing, not over pressurising and determining life opportunities at 16.

Help the Hedgehogs! (www.youtube.com)
submitted 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) by masterofnone@piefed.social to c/gardeninguk@piefed.social

Just a small plea to consider hedgehogs when planning your gardens. Hedgehog numbers have halved in the UK since the year 2000 and a few little considerations can be a big benefit.

A few little notes for helping hedgehogs to thrive.

  1. Access - If you have a fence without any gaps, allow for 1 or more holes near the bottom of the fence around 15cm around to let hedgehogs to enter your garden to find food. If you just have hedges as a boundary, great!
  2. Water - A bowl of water or a pond. Ensure any ponds have ramps that a hedgehog can walk out of if they fall in.
  3. Food - Attract beatles and insects with a deadwood pile. Also cat food can be a good supplement for them if left in a feeding station. Do not leave in a hedgehog home. You don't want to attract predators while they are hibernating.
  4. Toxins - Avoid slug pellets or chemicals in your gardens. These will make wildlife sick.
  5. Shelter - Provide a hedgehog home for breeding and hibernating

Recently planted a mixed native hedge as bare root plants around the edge of the garden to help increase wildlife. Fingers crossed they all establish well. All this rain should help. I can't wait to see what the look like in a year. I get very impatient at this part.

Probably just an unfortunate reality for companies that do big business together to work towards a third option. Hopefully it can at least lead to a third or 4th option depending what happens with the EU plans.

Yes that is an odd bit. Will have to see how it develops.

Looking forward to it! S1 was one of the freshest shows last year. Highly recommend to catch up before S2.

About damn time!

I never understood how such a foreign duopoly was able to be created in an industry we dominate in.

NBA All-Star Game 2026 (piefed.social)

What is everyone’s thoughts on the new format? I think it has definitely improved from the previous few years. I almost feel like I am watching a basketball game now! The tournament set up really gives a more competitive vibe, and it was smart to split the USA teams by age.
