Done. Now what? Vote for the "grab 'em by the pussy" guy? This is the not a hypothetical. What the fuck can I really do to effect change? Because it is needed.

e: Full disclosure, I voted for Biden because he was better than the alternative (bad vs worse). Now, he is directly supporting genocide and I'm faced with worse vs worse and will not vote for him again. It's easy to snark and meme behind a keyboard, but what can a regular person in this country do?

Oh man, everything. I'm fairly old, but there's always more to learn.

The first thing that comes to mind is how someone can be against Palestinians being oppressed and displaced. Then, when they push back get hit with a disproportionate respone. However, when it comes to Russians attacking Ukrainians on their own soil, it's ok. Maybe I'm missing some history here, but I seem to be in the minority that is pro-Palestine and pro-Ukraine. People should be able to forge their own destinies.

Something else: I've seen first hand the downside of late-stage capitalism, but any time I dig into some alternatives I start to have trouble seeing some issues such as how those ideas can scale. Then I hit the "death to America" wall.

Honestly, a lot of this is new to me since joining Lemmy, so I'm still figuring things out.

My experience is more like, "here's something I'd like to learn more about" and being greeted with meme images non-stop. There's no arguing or even discussion, just hieroglyphics.
