I'm always excited about new P.A. Works originals. I like the artstyle and the and the cast is promising.

It feels intimidating to break into.

I wanted to get into Gundam for years and always put it off for that reason. Suisei no Majo was my entry because it is completely detached from the other timelines/universes and it was airing weekly. The first half is very good, but unfortunately I cannot recommend it because it falls off a cliff in the last episodes.

Turn A probably isn't the best choice as a second series, but I'm at episode 20 and understood 99.99% of the plot. Afaik it isn't actually connected to the other universes, but is like the convergence of all timelines thousands of years into the future.

I will complete Turn A and proceed with the UC route following the r/anime wiki guide.

three episode rule of thumb for shows

  • Yubisaki to Renren has become my favourite show of the season.

  • I will probably drop Sengoku Youko and Metallic Rouge if they fail to impress me with the third episode. Idk about Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete.

  • Dungeon Meshi paused for now.

I will also be watching Urusei Yatsura and the shows continuing from the fall season (Sousou no Frieren, Kusuriya no Hitorigoto and Undead Unluck). I might try 7th Time Loop since it's getting a lot of positive reception.

Regarding finished series:

  • I completed Hoshikuzu Telepath and it was one of the most 6/10 anime I've ever watched. It's not bad, but there are a lot of better CGDCT anime.

  • I'm loving Turn A Gundam, I'm at episode 18 right now.

  • I bought the Taiho Shichauzo manga!

I'm in this photo and I don't like it

I don't read much on mobile (paperback > e-reader > phone/tablet), but ~~Tachiyomi~~ Mihon is great to get notified about new chapters and download them.

Also fuck Kakao.

I 100% agree with @[email protected], big flashy fights but not much substance underneath. I'll give it one more episode.

I can't believe it's not hentai!

This episode was better than the second, but still not great. I'll watch a few more.

Yuru Camp, A Place Further Than the Universe, Non Non Biyori, Flying Witch.

I watched and recommend all of them:

  • Yuru Camp: cute girls camping with some good comedy. You get to see a lot of real locations (mostly in Yamanashi Prefecture) and food that will make you hungry. There are 2 seasons and a non-canon spin-off movie, the third season will come out in spring.
  • Sora yori mo Tooi Basho: a group of girls going to Antarctica. Each one has her own motivation and is trying to find a place to belong.
  • Non Non Biyori: cute girls having fun and growing up in an imaginary small town in the countryside. Very nostalgic and the backgrounds are amazing.
  • Flying Witch: a wholesome slice of life with witches in rural Japan. A great example of a modern iyashikei.

Some more recommendations:

  • 3-gatsu no Lion: a young shogi prodigy orphan has grown up in a family where he feels like a stranger and is tormented by his past, but finds a new family and everything slowly improves. Lots of memorable characters and top tier animation by Shaft.
  • Hachimitsu to Clover: a josei by Chica Umino, the same author of 3-gastu no Lion. This one is about romance between students in an art university and finding your place in the world.
  • Tamako Market: you can't go wrong with Kyoani + Yamada. Slice of life about a girl and the shopping district where she lives. The sequel movie, Tamako Love Story, is even better.
  • Sakura Quest, Hanasaku Iroha and Shiroi Suna no Aquatope: the "girls working" series of original anime by P.A. Works. Imo Hanasaku Iroha > Sakura Quest > Aquatope. I love Shirobako but wouldn't recommend it to someone who never watches anime.
  • Skip to Loafer: high school romance done well. Probably the best animation quality from P.A. Works yet.
  • Barakamon: a calligraphy artist is "exiled" by is father to a remote island, where he changes his personality thanks to his new lifestyle and friends. The prequel Handa-kun is completely different, a bad high school comedy.

I wonder what causes something like this. Could it be that Netflix has to encode to a different format for their streaming platform?

Netflix uses H264 with Main@L4 profile for their SDR streams. I don't see anything weird in their encoding settings, so it's probably some filter that causes a color shift. It isn't a huge difference in this case, but definitely noticeable on my 200€ monitor.

Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon was horrible.
