If you think the average person understands watts, you live in a bubble, straight and simple. You have a very skewed notion of the average person.
In the very loose meaning of "can walk". This road crosses several dangerous areas for multiple reasons, from war and jungles, to deserts and tundra, not to mention all the visas you'd need.
I love this story because just imagine the setup.
All the top world archaeologists are in the biggest archaeology summit trying to figure this out. The queer son of the most famous archaeologist was visiting because his dad was trying to make him a real man and follow science instead of fashion. He takes a look at the poorly design slides being project and makes a snarky remark. "they're definitely sewed 💀😭💅". But everyone made fun of him so he took it personally. The next day he came back with an exact replica of the hair style sewed on his bestie's hair. In awe, everyone got up and clapped. The kid's name? Albert fucking Einstein.
It's still shocking that Microsoft just couldn't come up with a decent third option at all. Goes to show that Windows only exists out of pure inertia at this point, and Microsoft is now incapable of building successful consumer products that people love using.
Also, a well working social system with low corruption. But it's a bit chicken and the egg sort of situation.
I mean, you're not hired to "code", you're hired to do software engineering. That usually means working with other people. Reviewing code is a win win situation because both get a second pair of eyes on their code and prevent each other from committing dumb shit that you might have to fix later.
I feel like these memes of hating everything other than lone coding is because you keep working for toxic companies. Ffs you're programmers, it's probably super easy to get another job. It doesn't have to be like this.
Captchas te not meant to deter all bots. It's meant to make it ever so slightly expensive that a mass DDOS attack would be extremely expensive to perform. Think like thousand sof requests per second, all being Captcha'd and how much it costs to run AI. It's current not a feasible solution.
There is cheaper AI that can solve Captchas though, and it's only gonna get cheaper.
Or fire people because of politics.
From all the jobs that will disappear, the jobs of models replaced by AI is probably the ones I care the least.

It's not just the size constraint. The power usage is significant...
