And just to clarify, it is my understanding that "pretty bussin' bruh" is quite different than "pretty bussy, bruh". Correct?

It's worth giving the judge's letter a read. He had this distributed to all the people that wrote in on the defendant's behalf, since many people thought he was a good person and did nothing wrong. The judge set the record straight: https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.dcd.227212/gov.uscourts.dcd.227212.272.0.pdf

Hi,

I normally post from an account on the sh.itjust.works instance and recently noticed that posts and comments to and from lemmy.world are getting delayed by a few hours.

I made this post (https://sh.itjust.works/post/17275496) to discuss on that instance, but you might not be able to see the comments over there, including responses from the admins, if you're using a .world account.

Full disclosure, I am not on the admin team over there, but based on their responses it sounds like something might be going on with the lemmy.world side.

Just wanted to bring it to your attention.

Thanks

Glad to see it. I'm curious as to what that means practically. Does the court have the ability to force him to pay or can he just drag his feet indefinitely?

Jesus, that good air / bad air quote was hard to read. If I'm following him, and I might have too many braincells to do this correctly, he's arguing that we shouldn't have clean air because then someone else might benefit from our clean air? So we should just pollute the shit out of our air, because then at least the Chinese won't have a shot at getting any of our sweet, sweet clean air?

That's like saying you're not going to put indoor plumbing in your house, because your neighbor might not put indoor plumbing in their house. And if they're going to live up to their necks in shit, you'll be god-damned if you're not gonna live neck-deep in your own shit too! Otherwise, if you weren't absolutely drowning in your own shit, there's a chance that you might catch a whiff of your neighbor's shit, and ain't no way are you gonna let that happen.

Their problem is that they've been making abortion a wedge issue for so long, that it's now impossible for them to back down. They've been catering to the religious right, pushing a message that life begins at conception and any form of abortion (and some birth control) is literally the same as murdering babies. And their base ate that shit up.

Now they're trying to backtrack, which leads to their hilarious message of basically "look, we're going to have to kill a few babies to get into power, because power is more important." Good luck trying to sell that.

Lmao, Trump got fined $10,000 on the spot for violating his gag order about shit talking the court staff. A small slap on the wrist, but I love the immediate consequence.

We already knew he was a Republican.

Members of the class will receive as much as 75 percent of the fees returned to them, though the payout may be lower depending on how many people claim refunds from the suit.

A fine that allows a company to profit off shitty business practices is not a deterrent, it's just the cost of doing business. If people were receiving twice what they were charged in fees, then there might be actual change.

Frontier used to be such an awesome airline before they pivoted and raced to the bottom.

Using a bail bondsman is the exact opposite of spending the bare minimum. It's basically the equivalent of taking out a payday loan at a check cashing store.

Dude, you are amazing. I was bouncing back and forth between 3 Lemmy apps, but you just sealed the deal with Sync for me. Thanks!

When sorting comments by Top, you can get a situation shown in the image where a child comment has more comments than the parent, causing the parent comment to be hidden. Clicking "View Parent..." scrolls down to the parent comment, but it's shown without the connection to the child comment - which is very confusing.

I can't think of a situation where someone would ever want to read a child comment without seeing the context of what the comment is replying to. Is there a way to disable this type of situation while still being able to sort comments by Top?
