Celebrating the removal of an asinine law that forbid people from doing a common task themselves.

Rule 8 is too dystopian for me. I hate that I can totally see this becoming a real thing.

I wonder if there's a genetic competent to it like cilantro. I like aspartame, hate acesulfame potassium, and stevia is kinda meh.

This "defederate at the slightest sign of trouble" mindset is dangerous. It's not like sh.itjust.works endorsed that terrible community they just happened to temporary set up there before they were banned.

If you just block every instance that hosts a community you disagree with, beehaw will end up completely isolated. This isn't necessarily a problem, but don't try to pretend you're part of the federation at that point.

That sounds like a giant GPL violation if sources are provided under the condition that you don't use them.

Legally they must provide source to anyone they provide binaries to.

Shouldn't affect them much, it just means they'll need a single RHEL subscription.

Yessss, grinding your own beans is the single best thing you can do to make better coffee.

Only slightly longer than a 240v kettle, but still much faster than a kettle over a gas range.

Real reason is that most people in the US don't drink tea and don't have a need for quick hot water on demand.

Just Spotify and my pre-spotify (yarr) collection.

I'm interested in vinyl, but I don't have space for it ATM.

I strongly disagree with this decision -- as lemmy progresses and stabilizes, open registrations will become normal and just blocking open instances will not be a viable solution.

I can't say if this is just a need for better mod tooling or a fundamental problem with federation, but it's certainly concerning.
