Photographed is Garry Tan, CEO of Y Combinator. From https://missionlocal.org/2024/01/garry-tan-death-wish-sf-supervisors/

District 5 Supervisor Dean Preston, whom Tan has pledged $50,000 to unseat through a “Dump Dean” effort, called Tan “toxic and hateful” and asked whether Tan “wants me to die because I stop evictions, house homeless families, and tax the rich?”

Waymo said its robotaxi struck the child at 6 miles per hour, after braking “hard” from around 17 miles per hour. The young pedestrian “suddenly entered the roadway from behind a tall SUV, moving directly into our vehicle’s path,” the company said in its blog post. Waymo said its vehicle “immediately detected the individual as soon as they began to emerge from behind the stopped vehicle.” “Following contact, the pedestrian stood up immediately, walked to the sidewalk, and we called 911. The vehicle remained stopped, moved to the side of the road, and stayed there until law enforcement cleared the vehicle to leave the scene,” Waymo wrote in the post.

The Pixel 10a is supposed to be released next month; you may find better prices on a used 9a then. Be advised that the Pixel 10 and later have a feature on stock Android to reduce the usable capacity of your battery as you own the device, and this cannot be disbled. I'm not sure if GrapheneOS can disable this, but it's worth checking.

There are! But mostly in the open source space. If you have an Android phone, check out

  • Newpipe / Tubular -- YouTube
  • Harmonic -- Hacker News
  • Thunder -- Lemmy
  • Mihon -- manga
  • LNReader -- light novels
  • Aniyomi -- anime
  • Loop Habit Tracker -- in case checking boxes helps you achieve goals
  • Time.to -- time tracker
  • Simple Time Tracker -- pomodoro timer
  • Digipaws -- focus tracker
  • Simple: Fitness simplified -- workout planner
  • Feeel -- home workout planner

There are also some non open-source apps that are still respectful:

  • Just Run -- Couch-to-5K or 10k trainer
  • Medito -- meditations (technically open-source but not accepting new contributions)
  • How We Feel -- emotion/mood tracker

You pay someone else (a debrid service) to torrent for you (approximately $3/month for 6 months), and you download the files from their site when it's done.

The benefit is that if you want a popular file, chances are they'll already have it available and there's no waiting for them to finish the download.

And you don't need a VPN because your IP isn't shared with any of the other torrenters

If your only goal is piracy, a debrid service might be better
