What’s so difficult about this vs. say your personal computer is that I am a lot more comfortable tinkering with privacy tools on my computer, in which the worst case scenario is sites won’t load/the tools are imperfect, than I am with my car, which would be an expensive bricking experience or potentially a lethal one. So even those of us who are so inclined can’t really safely take the situation into our own hands.
If you want to teach kids how to look up information, you can create spaces for that. They don’t need unrestricted access to their smart phones to accomplish that throughout the day. Hell you can relax your policies as they grow up and show the maturity to handle having a smart phone in the classroom. If schools want to do that, I am all in favor of it. But they would have to start early and build a system, which is a lot to ask of already overworked educators.
My favorite was seeing a comment where someone said "i'm not going to believe the words of some dude trying to sell a book"
I like the suggestion overall because it actually is pretty medically sound, but “impurities“ is just a meaningless term. You have a liver/kidney/etc. to get unwanted things out of your body. Diets and sweating doesn’t “remove” toxins or impurities or whatever buzzword is bouncing around the crunchy world .
We don't need to ban cars, we just need to stop structuring literally everything around accommodating them. Also a difficult task, but far easier than banning cars.
Someone give me a hard sell here! Why should I use this app? I used to use Instagram (photographer/cinematographer), and I stopped using it because not just the tracking and all of that, but frankly, the content itself. Not to mention the algorithms are so busted and all they do is show me rage bait or flagrant ads disguised as content I would actually care about.
Why do people like pixelfed?
Wow that's a lot of apps for this lol do you just like having different accounts for different "regions" of the fediverse?
While I agree unpopular opinions often get shouted down, i think people often forget that sometimes what they consider an “unpopular opinion” is unpopular because it’s abhorrent or just wrong lol. Not every comment/idea is valid and deserves to be entertained.
Being anti-vax is unpopular in a lot of circles and I am perfectly happy with seeing those comments downvoted/ removed and the users banned.
