pretty much my take as well. I haven’t seen any actual information from a primary source, just lots of hearsay and “what we think happened” analyst shit (e.g. that analyst group in the twitter screenshot has names but no citation/links)

and doubly yep on the “everyone could just be lying” bit

yep I think so too. as I think I posted here a while back:

25068 + Oct 12 GitHub ( 20K) Your free GitHub Copilot access is ending soon

and now suddenly it's Launched Again! but with limits. gotta whet those appetites just a bit more! sales will totes follow soon!

been a little while since we had A Programming Dot Dev here, I think. guess it was time

it is funny as fuck, though

on which note: I would love to see a kind of "double-blind" experience where a pile of (ideally, more clever/clueful) muskrats get to interact with felon (without knowing that they are), and then watch the fallout as they all go "wtf is this dumbass I'm speaking to"

I'm thinking something in the survivor-y format of shows

probably wouldn't ever happen, felon's too fucking proud (and would 10000000% rig the game to own image advantage). but in a perfect world where this happened, oh wouldn't that just be some great television

I wish them a merry cable grounding fault and happy earth buzz to all

[-] [email protected] 10 points 9 months ago

yeah, which is rather lol

"please believe in meeeeeeeeeee"

afaik it's not illegal but I have a strong feeling that quite a number of Typical OpenAI Practices And Behaviours are going to inform what becomes anathema and what becomes illegal in the coming years, because ho boy

I'm still blissfully clueless as to who zizek is

although saying that here now might cause an accidental crash course

you just really don’t get it, do you?

pretty common to see that mentioned ito EU going after megacorps; the tone was set by microsoft actions in the 00s (the Office saga), and has rung a few times since over the years

This has featured here before, and iirc there was a connection established beyond happenstance. Check the previous thread for more

(feels quite fucky to type the following without coming across as a naysayer; not quite the intended meaning, but.. I guess you'll see)

it'd probably be cool if this could exist, but also there's a couple of extremely hard problems in going for it, along with a couple of (to my current knowledge) entirely unsolved ones

one of the presently-unsolved things I know of is that we don't yet have anything like scalable performant homomorphic encryption so there's no way to do fully-private query operations on a dataset, which thus gives way to the operator snooping space combined with user privacy angles. there are some technical solutions to some aspects of this, and a number of social things that would apply too

might be interesting either way

definitely a hell of a big project.
