Every machine I own has a scripts folder in the users home. It contains anything and everything, from starting and stopping services to changing settings, updating my boot order, literally anything I don't use often enough to alias, but know I will use at some point.

Good read. Although I recently moved to void Linux as I prefer rolling release instead of a major upgrade every few years.

Appreciate hearing about your experience ๐Ÿ‘ I dont use any of those tools, but self host a complex setup, and is always good to hear how people operate and resolve issues, even if it is luck that saves the day ๐Ÿ‘

I built a fully open source multi-user live collaboration notes app, self host with docker, serve at root or a subpath, has an android, windows and Linux client app, plus the usual web UI.

It's electrical regen. You will see it all season on every track in practice. Practice is where the teams test set ups and try to set the regen as aggressively as possible whilst still remaining drivable. This will mean in testing you see cars spin as they push the limits of the regen.

Backups and backups and backups, and then and only then can you trust your data is safe. I run all consumer disks, have 2x2tb ssd's in a raid1 for user facing storage which are always powered up and mounted. I only have 2 users in total, so relatively light load. Then I have 2x8tb hdd's which only power on once a day at most, for as long as it takes rsync to complete it's nightly backups, then they dismount and power off. Been running this for 18 months and not had any issues. My hdd's will last years with their current load and usage, with only probably a few hundred mb written every night. But if your data is managed and backed up sensibly, and you use raid effectively, cheap discs aren't a worry.

If it hasn't fixed itself after 5 years, I'll consider the GP as an option.

Tea is a delicious hot drink, I have a little milk in mine. Breakfast is the first meal of the day after getting up. Lunch is a midday meal. Afternoon tea is a posh cup of tea, with a pot, and some snacks like scones, cakes and finger sandwiches. Dinner is an evening main meal Supper is a late evening snack.

I'm from the north west.

I don't use a bootloader anymore. I was using systemd-boot for a while, but switched to just use efi stub a couple of years ago. I just use the efi boot menu if I need to use a different partition to boot from, otherwise my system just bits immediately and skips the bootloader step.

I don't think the issue is listening to music, but installing potentially dodgy software that could bring a virus into the corporate network. Hence most businesses handling sensitive information try to protect their systems and networks by preventing unauthorised installation of software.

The biggest issue you will find is getting gtk and qt apps to look, feel and integrate together. There is nothing wrong with mixing and matching, it can just get a bit complicated. Lots of people don't even use a de, and just build their own gui with a compositor or window manager, plus all the tools and apps they want to include to make it functional. I haven't used a de in over a decade on my main desktop.
