I love this movie and I will never stop recommending it

I feel like Jupiter Ascending would have been such a good book

I’ve read both and highly enjoyed both. I read The Martian after I saw the movie and I still recommend it even if you saw the movie already

That series is the one series I wish I could read all over for the first time again. I hope you enjoy the ride!

Still working my way through The Secret Commonwealth by Philip Pullman. I’m about 80% through now, I’ve been reading less than usual this week with life stuff going on.

I really enjoyed Redshirts by John Scalzi. I enjoy pretty much everything I’ve read of his, but Kaiju Preservation Society is still my favorite.

I recently took a trip to a thrift store and found a bunch of cds in excellent condition. Lately I’ve been listening to these albums, all thrift pickups:

  • American Idiot by Green Day
  • Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt
  • Pickin’ Up The Pieces by Fitz and the Tantrums
  • Almo Sounds by Ozomatli
  • New Beginning and Crossroads by Tracy Chapman

I saw Phantom of the Opera on Broadway in NYC so that’s a top one for me.

My favorite is Repo the Genetic Opera. I really enjoy that one.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I love anything Gene Kelly, that man’s butt is amazing!

I love mine too. It’s great for my back, but I get why others find them uncomfortable.

I literally had this reaction from a someone recently. I commented that I had trouble installing a specific program, so I switched back to windows for now. I was not looking for advice, it was just a post asking about recent Windows user’s experience switching to Linux, so I shared my experience and that I had the intention to try again because I want off Windows.

Dude commented like I’m just a dumb dumb who didn’t follow the numerous instructions online (I did) because it’s so easy to install on Linux (doesn’t change my issue) that their mom could do it (again, still doesn’t change that I had issues).

I’ll be trying again soon, but I can understand why some folks would be turned off of Linux because of that.

Walter Masterson! That’s his name.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a video where he was legitimately that angry.

I love this. The guy who was reading names is the guy who trolls right wing dumb dumbs a lot. I forget his name, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen him actually angry or that upset. Love it.

Aeroponic houseplants (thelemmy.club)
submitted 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) by dkppunk@piefed.social to c/houseplants@mander.xyz

I hope these count because they are plants in my house. I grow small amounts of lettuce and herbs to spoil my bunnies with.

After only 2 days, I’m already getting some lettuce sprouts in my second garden. 🥰

Do you set any kind of reading goals?

Do you try to read a certain number of books a year?

Do you want to read more of a certain genre? Or just more of a variety of genres?

I am curious to hear about any kind of reading goals you may have.

My 2025 books (thelemmy.club)
submitted 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) by dkppunk@piefed.social to c/books@lemmy.world

I don’t know a lot of folks who read as often as I do, so I wanted to share my 2025 reads with y’all. I read a mix of novels and graphic novels. Some highlights were:

  • The Consortium Rebellion trilogy by Jessie Mihalik. Great mix of science fiction and romance.
  • 2 of the Jules and Bun trilogy. This is a super cute murder mystery about a woman and her crime solving telepathic rabbit, I love it!!
  • Run by Blake Crouch. One of my favorite authors
  • When the Moon Hits Your Eye by John Scalzi. Another favorite author of mine
