I didn't realize this was releasing, so I binged and got all caught up.

Where is Sylvia Tilly? I thought the whole point of her being an instructor at the Academy was so she'd be here.

Also, what's up with Captain Ake being...extremely unprofessional? Not to say I need my captains to always be stoic. But I feel there is some hypocrisy with how she acts and also dressed down Mir for not standing at attention, when she's lazying around the captain's chair or running around barefoot.

I can understand cadets being unprofessional, and needing to be broken in, but when the ranking officer is too... something don't feel right.

The entire premise of high school/college drama and tropes, I'm not against this. It's not as artificial as I sometimes feel it can be in media target at young adults, but it also is a little bit... Which is slightly bothersome, but I feel they're also handling it well because it does appear to come with some character growth, but my fear is that that growth is coming too quick and they'll just reset some character growth back to give themselves room to have character drama.

I don't know where I stand on this series just yet. It's not bad though.

I think Discovery is perfectly OK Star Trek. However, because it had a few changes in show runners things progress very strangely.

Season 1 is a 10 hour movie. I liked it for doing something different, and thought the plot twist was interesting.

Season 2 starts off good, but then jumps the (metaphorical) shark at the end.

Season 3 thru 5 starts to feel more like traditional Star Trek, just with wacky doom's day scenario in the background until it's resolved at the end of the season. It honestly feels too formulaic, but I thought Season 4's ending was fantastic, some of the middle stuff was a mixed bag.

Anyway, I still think you should watch it. It's perfectly adequate. Didn't make me throw up at all.

The link to the stream is broken. It should point to Gigguk's channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-P3HWXGYm4

Interesting short film. It moved at a quick pace so that I didn't get bored, and was slow enough to let scenes breath and let you think about what's happening.

Also, I've never heard of Gigguk before this point. But apparently he's a anime fan/influencer, and once upon a time worked for the BBC. I hope this ends up being profitable. I really enjoy indy anime. It can just do a lot more experimental stuff.

What a wild ride. This show was so hilarious, charming, and beautiful. The artistry in the CGI work and I'm just blown away with the dubs. They dubbed it in so many languages and it's really good!

I'll add my comment from the other post here too.

Naveen Andrews is doing a great job with Khan sounding very charismatic.

Not to throw shade at Andrews, but I do kind of wish maybe they got Earl Boen who can do a very good sound alike to Ricardo Montalban. Boen filled in for Montalban as Señor Senior Sr. in Kim Possible, and sounded really spot on.

But if we ever see Khan on screen again, I think Andrews would be great casting.

I also did the unthinkable, I'm listening to this podcast at 1x speed. Because I wanted to really be immersed in the story telling. I usually listen to podcasts at 1.5x or 2x, whichever allows me to consume the content quicker while understanding it.

It'll be intersting to see what hell comes from this that will inform Khan's revenge for Kirk in Wrath of Khan.

Some of the deaths in Orb just leave you with...well now what? Everyone is dead, how can the plot possibly continue? And then it does... So I think this is exactly what OP is looking for.

  1. I think this can easily be handwaved away since the scenario is artificial in the first place.
  2. Odds are it'll take a few days or possible weeks of travel to rondevu with the Constellation.

This show is so wholesome and peak.

Kyoto Animation is doing such an amazing job at animating this series.

Also, who is that girl that rigged the race for Matsuri and Eri? I don't remember seeing her before this episode, but there are so many characters it's easy to have missed her.

Survival horror and Star Trek is not something that instantly seem like it goes together to me. But this does look interesting. Being able to Vulcan death grip and mind meld with people in VR looks interesting and sounds like cool mechanic combined with Star Trek lore.

This looks pretty fun for some reason, and I do own a Valve Index, so happy to see this not locked behind the Meta store, like so many other VR games.

I literally thought this might be a prequel to that. I was disappointed.

That was an ending alright. I feel like the epilogue was nice, with no killing of a main character for no reason (looking at you ENT) and everyone got a pretty happy ending. And Calypso at least is canon, but it'd have been nice to have more context on what the end game is.

But my problem is that the emotional pay off just doesn't feel deserved. I really just don't feel connected with the characters and crew enough. I really feel like more episodes (or a lot more) to really flesh things out would have helped a lot.

But you know what I think I might actually like. A movie. I feel like tightening up the epic galaxy ending plot in a 90 to 120 minute feature film would feel better then a 10 ep season. I doubt we'll get one, but it'd be nice to see what kind of nonsense Burnham gets in to since they end it on a pseudo cliff hanger (as is DISCO tradition).

But what was up with Detmer and Owo being side lined for the second half of the season. I was expecting some kind of pay off for that, but nothing... It seemed unnecessary.

I think there is a fan theory that Romulan space is pretty small (relatively speaking), which is how they're able to defend it well with a small number of ships. Which also explains why they're not able to have enough ships to evacuate Romulus.
