I think the OP way is still ways better than what we are currently doing. And done right it wouldn't be any more exploiting than what we are doing to neurotypicals. Everyone needs to feel valuable and that they have a purpose. I for one feel most alive when my skills are put to good use

Well put. We are just as immune as the USA thought they were

See why privacy are so important now? I'm looking at you EU

To be fair; famous people usually get shat on (and rightly so) when speaking about politics

Yeah I guess. I take the middle ground I guess. I'll gladly help, but I won't go out of my way unless they really show determination. I often explain that to succeed as a programmer, you need to enjoy grinding away at a problem for hours at end just to enjoy the progress it is to get to that new problem

Not the most motivating live, but I believe it's honest

Yeah I know. I forgot to mention I ended up as a programmer anyway and I've met tons of wonderful colleagues. I just hoped the elitist culture had gone away

[-] deifyed@lemmy.wtf 8 points 2 weeks ago

Still?? The elitist culture threw me off programming over twenty years ago. I really thought and hoped it had changed

Sorry. You lost your right to call anything immoral when you stole a generation of Ukrainian kids with the goal of training them to be soldiers against their own country

[-] deifyed@lemmy.wtf 7 points 2 weeks ago

No. This is what happens when you allow too much economic distance between the rich and the poor

[-] deifyed@lemmy.wtf 11 points 2 weeks ago

Agreed. It definitely feels like we're losing a good friend. Signed Norwegian dude

I believe it's because fear of the unknown is a strong human instinct. Also, it doesn't help that people clawing for power knows the oldest trick in the book for gathering support is to exploit it by blaming something (or someone) less known for any prominent problem

I'm sorry this is happening to you

Maybe "alias u=cd .." or "alias mkcd=mkdir -p $1 && cd $1"
