We mostly get three votes. We get to vote on how we spend our money, who we give it too. We can cast a ballot. We can vote through physical action.
This is the one that ended the really long debate about how horses run, right? Like before this people would always draw horses running incorrectly.
It seems nearly everyone is second-guessing their dependence on oil. Nuclear and green energy along with EV transportation is a bit more forgiving to immediate shocks to global supply.
Yeah there's no "win" here for the US. My bet is the conflict goes on and on then goes cold and something else happens that grabs everyone's attention. The old slowly walk away and hope people's attention spans are short tactic. I've half suspected this to be a ploy to reroute shipping to Venezuela which is now like a US satellite state, particularly its oil wealth. Also to encourage the end of OPEC. My hope is they don't nuke them, that could quickly spiral into a really bad day for everyone.
Yeah, there's a push to no ownership or everything as a service with user data collection and ads. A more than good reason to use and support FOSS and non-profits. We're starting to see governments adopting Linux so that's good, corporations will follow and maybe just maybe there will be a proper pushback on that trend.
Anything is a sex toy if you try hard enough.
Typically when a service is free you are the product. This is a good example.
One time as a kid I found an offset motor with straps to strap to your hand to aid in giving a massage in my grandma's room. It wasn't until my adult life I realized it was likely just an OG vibrator (╥﹏╥)
I've gotten some traction with people in changing their mind by not necessarily befriending but being amicable and making sure they felt heard and understood. Their mental barriers fall vs in direct conflict where it's nearly impossible to change anything. I always imagine it like a walk and we're walking together towards Truth. They may be at a different place than me and one I dislike but I can let go of my ego for a moment to see if they're receptive. That said it's a judgement call, some people are too anchored in to go in a stroll down a new mental pathway.
Honestly it's a bit like a therapy session, but I'm the therapist. If they are willing it's really cool, you see their mind light up as it reaches a destination it hasn't been to before and you start to see the pathways to the location they were grow a little dim and distant.
I know it sounds corny but love is really the way to change the world.
Getting people fighting over political identity is a classic move. If they dare befriend one another then that's a problem. Remember, never get over your differences, the rich and powerful depend on it. Politics is religion2.0 where you are unquestionably right and anyone who disagrees with you is the spawn of Satan sent to earth to destroy everything and you should hate them eternally without an ounce of doubt.
The trick is to get them fighting about anything besides how the rich are abusing the poor. Get them fighting over race, culture, sexuality, political affiliation, immigration, gender, really anything will work. The moment they start waking up just hit them with a new crisis like an impromptu war or domestic terror attack, even a pandemic if you really need to.
