Yeah, at that point they gave up on getting the emu to have the correct number of toes and decided to go ahead and ship it.

Not to be confused with Weird AI, which is in the intersection of none of the circles.

They're not assuming anything, they are doing calculus.

The companies that win won’t be those with the most or even the best features. AI will democratize those. The winners will be built on a data model that captures something true about their market, which in turn creates compounding advantages competitors can’t replicate.

If AI is really so good that it will democratize writing code to implement features, then why won't it also democratize the ability to come up with the correct data model? What makes that one task so special?

Were I to conjecture as to the answer, I would say that business types seem to have a blind spot where they think that every role will be commodified except their own, which is somehow special.

You should read it as "beta of the LTS release", in which case it is not so strange.

My interpretation of the comic is that he had not done these things until after she had yelled at him, making him realize that the situation was really bad and he needed to take it over from her. Arguably he should have come to this realization sooner, but we all occasionally fail to see what is in front of us time to time, so I am willing to cut him slack given that he immediately jumped in without being asked once it became clear he was needed.

What is this, potential for a circle tool?

Just in time for version 3.1.4!

Yeah, it's like they looked at Go and said, "You know what the real problem was with the lack of generics in Go? They made an exception for lists and maps!"

Think of it as being a different way of saying "anxiety scrolling", because "doom scrolling" is primarily referring to the experience of being driven by anxiety to compulsively consume a never-ending stream of bad news.

For example, I had to cut myself off from following what is going on in Los Angeles earlier today because I recognized the signs of going past the point of merely keeping tabs on it to stay informed and compulsively anxiously reloading the page to see if there were any new updates.

Even if someone worked very diligently to save money, it would take a whole lot to save enough to be able to afford an entire second house.

I see no problem at all with lab-grown meat being the solution, but I would push back a bit on the notion that eating bugs is inherently unpalatable. The truth is that what makes eating bugs unpalatable is our current habits and inclinations think of this as being inherently "icky", save for certain species that come from the sea. Changing these habits would not only switch us to consuming animal protein with fewer ethical and environmental issues, but also would open us up to new culinary experiences which we are currently depriving ourselves.

Having said that, I have never tried hard to overcome my own habits and inclinations, even though I probably should, so I am not going to judge anyone else for not having done so; the above paragraph is a musing rather than me trying to dictate anything to other people.

Article written like it’s someone that just discovered types even though a majority of the programming world said to use types for decades…

Yeah, how dare the author discover something that they did not know before and get so excited about it that they wanted to write an article about what they learned! That is a completely inappropriate thing to do with a personal blog.

Edit: Finally figured out how to link the image to the original comic. (I needed to embed the image link inside of another link.)
