Ive been finding the link between backend and frontend is fine for me to make frontend features pretty easily so dont know what improvements can be made on that front. This main things hindering development for me is the fact the backend is in rust which this is the first time im using it for a project and theres some niche things I want for certain features that need to be developed in the backend (being able to query for posts from multiple communities at once, having things in the modlog not be in separate categories and instead be returned together, etc.)

how the multiple communities works currently is it just queries for posts in all of the communities separately

This follows the default of a limit of 50 posts for a page of posts in the post feed so will get 50 from each of them

cant really fix it without touching the backend since i dont know how many communities are valid for splitting the limit between them

This update also broke light theme even more since ive been primarily developing with it in dark theme. Next update ill try to improve it

Little update:

Ive added a show more/show less button for the sidebar community lists. They show 5 communities by default and when expanded they instead show 10

added functionality for the two rules

• getting all communities with a certain slug
• exclude instance with domain X from above rule

was running into rate limits when trying to check every single linked instance so ive manually put in the larger ones for now

will involve the backend eventually to clean up the posts that show up

rule based grouping is a nice idea, Ill try to get that implemented before I push this out to the test site

Yeah I reduced the amount of transparency on the post cards after this round of testing. Now only half transparent

ah yeah I havent looked into the configs too much. Not sure how it would deal with renames but you can ask in the lemmy matrix or something
