There is a distinguish option that adds a shield but its a bit redundant since it marks you with the flairs anyways

Only way to really get around it for now is the multiple accounts

Hey, im actually doing a post right now with some screenshots. Should be up in a bit on meta

(was also the one that purged the conversation. things should still be in the modlog if youre interested in digging around for it)

hey im one of the lead admins of programming.dev

ive been talking with ada + the other admins privately and im drafting up an announcement right now for the instance but just wanted to give a little response here since it targets the users of the instance a bit

snowe sent a message apoligizing to ada and weve been getting things set up so this kind of thing cant happen again. The people in my instance havent really been doing anything in the thread (the ones that have have been relatively respectful about it) (havent seen the things you said in there by them). The hexbear comments wouldnt make sense anyways since we federate with hexbear (in a limited mode where some of their communities are hidden but still).

Im aiming to get this resolved and just want to ask to please not escalate the situation and throw instances against each other while it gets handled

We have been talking about it internally currently (+ was talking with ada). I'm planning to do a post tomorrow

There typically will always be some form of controversy, tends to be just how the admins handle that

I try to keep this instance federated with instances as much as reasonable (the only lemmy instances we really defederate with are burggit and rqd2 since their instance rules break our instance rules, lolicon+DMCA ignoring for the first and very questionable communities in the second (zoophilia, MAP)) and were dealing with the situation in this post internally currently to solve the situation here with blahaj. Should make a post in meta probably tomorrow

I can give some recommendations of some instances with admins ive had positive experiences with (im one of the programming.dev leads though if that affects my stances on this)

  • startrek.website - I dont talk with these admins much but the instance tends to be pretty positively viewed across lemmy
  • slrpnk.net - one of the other niche instances. Admins seem relatively chill and I dont have anything negative regarding them. Active in helping stop spam accounts (defeds with hexbear + lemmygrad)
  • lemmings.world - has been pretty active in making tooling to help out a bunch of admins + the fediverse in general. Made uptime badges that some instances use, a linking system so you can link to something that sends people to the copy of it on their own instance, and a gui for fediseer which a bunch of admins use to keep track of defederations + endorsements (defeds with hexbear + rqd2)

The way the instance is set up theres multiple lead admins

snowe tends to be in charge of infrastructure side of things while I do development and community management. snowe is listed first in the admin list but I basically have the exact same access to the site resources

Not trans, just use any/all pronouns

Hey im the admin mainly in charge of the community over on programming.dev (+ the other lead admin). Can you point out a case of this happening and I can see if I need to handle it

We moderate things in our instance if its reported but if its not reported it cant really be found easily

(also for the main post, im chatting with your admin about it)

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago

Yep, I can update that maybe later today. Was waiting until I get them all up but can do the first 3 while I deal with mlmym

[–] [email protected] 7 points 9 months ago (1 children)

You might need to hard refresh with ctrl f5

Looks like it was struggling to get an image from lemmy.antemeridiem.xyz

I added a timeout on community icon loading so itll just continue after two seconds of not getting the image and yours works now

Change has been pushed

ill check it out and try to fix it

This is a community oriented around running polls for other people in the instance to answer! As theres no poll system built into programming.dev and lemmy currently things will be ran either with upvotes or external websites

Please keep topics on topic for the instance. Theres a more general purpose poll community at [email protected]

Pretty nice tutorial by Lukky

Its Monday so we're continuing on with the daily questions of the day!

Thanks everyone who helped out! We've got some of our communities who built some stuff in the area and some other people that got incorporated into the dark theme corner

Was a bit of a rush to get things done since I didn't know the event existed until it was already underway but happy with what was done in the time. If anyone wants to team up to make a big artwork next year between our communities feel free to reach out to me. I'll be doing some planning ahead of time to prep

See if you can recognize any communities from the logos over by the P.D text!

The lemmy canvas has been going for 2 days now! Here's what the P.D corner is looking like

Most things are nearing completion and there's been two more larger pieces made by c++ and godot

Theres still 1 more day left in the event if anyone else wants to participate. The website is https://canvas.toast.ooo

Theres some empty space in the area and you can build on the gray checker pattern as well (just make sure it looks good with everything else)

Lemmy Place Event (programming.dev)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

toast.ooo has hosted a place event for lemmy for the weekend! You can go to https://canvas.toast.ooo and log in using your lemmy account (a bot will send a code to your dms which you can use to verify yourself on the site)

I've started making a programming.dev logo over on the left. Feel free to help out with structure or making something for your community nearby. Theres already c/rust that made a little drawing. Ive been freehanding the looks but aiming to get 5x5 logos of different communities around the p.d text

Will last for the weekend and pixel cooldown is 30 seconds (with it being able to stack up to 6 pixels to place down at once with the stacked ones having a 1 min 30 sec cooldown)

Going to start doing daily questions of the day here about misc game development topics. Probably also going to start some over in [email protected] as well

For today heres a question about which tools & software you find essential

Welcome to feedback friday, this is just a thread where you can ask for some feedback on something you might be working on related to game development

Haven't been running these for a bit due to some issues with my laptop but will start running them weekly again. Theres also going to be screenshot Saturday happening tomorrow

If you want some feedback on some art, a game track, a game trailer, a mechanic, the design of something, etc. feel free to post it here
