I was once on a train for two days straight in China, 2008, and it was magical. I yearn to go back. The rhythmic rocking lulling me to sleep was heavenly.
You're welcome.
if i were to explore buddhism more fully, it would definitely be on my own, rather than in association with any particular sect or practicing group
That seems reasonable to me. Keep in mind my experience may not be representative. I will also say my experience as a lay temple member vs. the priesthood training were almost opposite and I was caught very off guard. From what I remember, Tendai is dying off in Japan. CIA-pedia says 2.8 million practitioners in Japan, 5.3 million for Zen, vs 22 million for Pure Land and 10 million for Nichiren. My point being that although Tendai is a significant sect that incorporates practices from the others, it's one small slice of Buddhist traditions. I know basically nothing about Theravada or Tibetan Buddhism.
Thanks! They ended up leaving without apologizing so I just finished dropping off their shit and took my car back I lent them. Good riddance.
That's easily the worst part about most suburbs. Never thought I'd end up in one myself. We have a couple in our neighborhood but they're pretty small.
Toddler started preschool and is thriving and she's basically potty trained at this point. We really lucked out, it's 3 minutes away with an amazing teacher. She's only going twice a week because it's still expensive as hell even if it's cheap for the area.
It was her birthday yesterday and we took her to an animal sanctuary in the morning, Pasado's. Place was incredible, very clean and well run. She got to interact with tons of animals and just had a blast. We'll definitely go back, way better than the zoo esp since we're all vegan.
Currently my in-laws are visiting and I could write forever about them. They caused a scene yesterday evening after presents were done being opened and left back to their Airbnb in a huff. Wife has clearly communicated they need to apologize or they aren't welcome anymore (lots of backstory including physical abuse).
Her mom is trying to pretend nothing happened and her dad won't even look at her, par for the course, but we're about to force the convo after my wife finishes napping so we'll see how that goes. I won't be the least bit upset if I never see them again, if they were my parents they wouldn't even be in my life.
Glad you had a good time, definitely could've gone way worse it sounds like! Sorry I haven't replied to your other comment from the other week, just haven't had the energy yet.
Got mine last year at 34, inattentive type. Never had a sweet tooth at all
This is perfect, I've just started reading these to my toddler since someone in the parenting community recommended them
Huh interesting, I was prescribed clonodine before bed to help with restless sleep from ADHD. Might be interested in naltrexone for the alcohol?
There's a short book called "A Mind For Numbers: How to Excel at Math and Science" that I recommend. It's about learning and studying in general, not just math and science. It's worth taking the time to read it to develop some strategies for your studying.
I also used to use flash card programs like Anki, not sure if that's still a popular one or not.

It depends on the kid and can just take time. My first wasn't very interested and my 10 month old can't get enough.
We're doing baby led weaning with both but will also feed them purees and mashes ourselves, both approaches are fine. There's a saying "food before 1 is just for fun" so I wouldn't worry too much at that age, just keep introducing foods. That age is a bit young to feed themselves with a spoon as well, I think that happens closer to a year old.
