Inertial Dampeners failing means the ship can no longer remain at warp. (Ship would be fine, the meat bags of mostly water would not) Trek is usually pretty consistent about that part.
Currently, if your taxes are under the rebate, your tax incentive is only as good as your taxes are. So if you owe $3k in taxes, you're only getting a $3K tax incentive, regardless of if it's new ($7.5k) or used ($4k).
I'm seeing the government giving us easier access to that $3K… not granting the full 4k or 7.5k. For simplicity's sake, the full rebate is applied at the dealership, but the difference is still due for that year's taxes.
You’re not wrong. You can basically blame why college is so bloody expensive because of student loans. You can be certain the professors aren’t getting all that money.

Personally, I use ‘savings’ as a catch-all for any form of money you have no intention of spending frivolously. Be that in savings, stocks, or other forms of investment.
I’ve got a relative who saw anything beyond the 6 month mark as spending money. I don’t know what form his investments manifested in, but it clearly didn’t work as he’s in financial do-do, and it’s an unpleasant topic amongst the family.
The fall was published after Nemesis, and the rules on novels were changed from being self contained to interconnected, and they abandoned the numbered novel system.
Instead of rare bursts of continuity, you get random bursts of discontinuity, as the authors have different opinions on how to portray shared OCs, or takes on an event or its significance.
I mean, the easiest way would be to read the novels by publication date… I don't think there's a short cut around that.
That said, having full context is… not always worthwhile. Sometimes just knowing that something happened in the past is more enjoyable than reading it in practice.

Fat tires are off-road tiers. If the bike isn’t primarily being used there then that shouldn’t be a consideration. Thinner tires are more efficient on flat surfaces.
The battery and motor specs are important—if you’re dealing with long distances and steep hills. I don’t know why the author is just skimming over that.
I’ve personally burned through no less than 3 bread machines, and I heavily used mine. (It’s the paddle. It’s always the paddle that dies.)
I find it’s significantly cheaper to pick them up at your local thrift store. They’re quite common and cheap there.

Wondercon is March 29th through the 31st.
TBH, it feels a little barebones…. But with Picard finished, Academy in very early development, Prodigy out of Paramount’s hands, and Lower Decks expected for late 2024… there really isn’t much else they can bring to the plate, aside from maybe the S31 movie.
