Oh, of course. I'm not saying it's easy to produce, or that it should be cheap. From a corporate perspective it hardly matters why it's cheap though.
I could easily see it happening, especially with how comparatively cheap anime is to produce.
I love reading this guy's words. It's exactly the sort of thing you'd expect the writer of Chainsaw Man to write and that's wonderful.
It's really excellent! I promise it's not just a cozy anime about cooking up dungeon critters.
The manga I've read with the most real characters by far was Skip and Loafer. It's great! It's one of my favorites! But honestly I'd say it's only 1/3 romance with the other 2/3 being slice of life and coming of age. Still, I highly recommend it.
If you want something where romance is a bit more of a focus I also recommend Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku. It's a story about a couple of awkward office workers who slowly develop their relationship.
My favorite romance manga though is Kaguya-sama: Love is War. These people definitely feel more like cartoon characters than people sometimes. Not in a bad way (I love how these characters are written), but their traits are pretty extreme for good and for ill. The first few chapters all follow the same basic formula, which might trick you into thinking that this manga is a one-trick pony, but it changes things up often enough that it ended up being one of the most satisfying manga I've ever read.
All 3 of these have excellent anime adaptations by the way, though none of them are completed yet.
This week I got caught up on Witch Hat Atelier.
Read it. Seriously.
Witch Hat Atelier has the best, most unique art I've ever seen in a manga. I honestly don't think any of the dozens of series I've read can even compete. It would be worth reading even if the story and characters were bad, but thankfully the story is good and the characters are extremely charming.
The anime will air later this year, and the trailer looks great, but I still implore everyone here to read it. This could be the next big thing, assuming the shounen-heads are willing to watch a show about a young girl instead of a spunky boi like Itadori or Tanjiro.
This week I watched the first 9 episodes of The 100 Girlfriends who Really Really Really Really Really Love You. I'd already read the manga so I knew what to expect, but wow. This adaptation really cranked things up to eleven. I mean, the manga was basically already there but they took all of the best, worst, and most cursed scenes and just amplified the hell out of them. 10/10 adaptation. I really look forward to seeing what they do with a certain other character, though I worry I'll have to wait until at least the third season to find out.
I agree that this show got too complex for its own good. I've seen a lot of speculation that maybe it was originally intended to have more episodes and that's why the second season felt so rushed.
As an aside, The Witch From Mercury has some of the best budget model kits Bandai has ever made. Something like the High Grade Aerial kit, which can be found for <$20 USD, would be a great choice if someone wanted to give building gunpla a try. If there's another suit you liked more, well, pretty much all of the high grade Witch From Mercury kits are both affordable and great.
Man, why do all the anime streaming sites have to be so terrible?
The part of your workday that you’re most likely to die during is your commute, especially if you drive, which is not covered by DoL or OSHA.
FWIW this is because of DoL and OSHA making sure that once you get to work they have to keep you reasonably safe. This was not always the case in the past.
Every friend I still keep in contact with is someone I met in college, so this makes a lot of sense to me.
