Just so you know with the transition to the new team all prior donation subscriptions have been cancelled and we've yet to set up a new system for donations.

We'll let you all know when we have a new system up and running right now but it's not high priority as we're well funded for at least the next 6 to 9 months if we don't have explosive growth.

We'll share this post with other instance admins once there's a bit more discussion, and maybe seeing this will get the ball rolling for other instances to have similar discussions.

We have yet to confirm if a vulnerability exists in the sidebars that can be set by community mods.

With this and along with other responses, it's very clear that this rule isn't appropriate in a instance wide fashion and should be left up to each community's discretion to decide if they need it or not, with encouragement from admins in regional communities where editorializing can be a more serious issue.

We will discuss within the team from this feedback and go from there.

It's a big difference going from a 8vCPU 8GB RAM VPS where the actual resources were likely quite over subscribed to a dedicated server with a 6c/12t Ruby Lake Xeon, 32GB RAM, 2x 512GB NVMe drives in RAID with it's own 1Gbps Public connection. From the data we have it should be sustainable with this server until about 40-50K users.

We're currently paying ~$140/month for that, and have plans in place to scale up as needed when it's needed. Over the next few days we will reopen the ability to make donations to cover the costs of operations.

From what I can see it's already enabled!

Test it out and report back. The instance is being moved to a much beefier dedicated server this weekend so if it's not currently working, we will make sure we enable that as part of the migration to the new server or soon after.
