To be clear, we don't think the US is currently a particularly dangerous place to be trans - it seems it's about in the middle. We're worried about which way the winds are blowing. It is a BIG DEAL to emigrate even if you
a) are not in an oppressed group, b) have economic privilege.
Waiting until a newly elected Trump invalidates your passport and makes "advocating trans-ism" illegal will make it MUCH harder to get out. We spent last summer in Uganda, we know what it's like. We want people to escape, and offer options for people to do that.
And we think it's "unlikely", in the same sense as it being unlikely I'll crash the car today, but still think car insurance is a good idea. After all, you've got an 82% chance of being just fine after playing Russian Roulette. Personally, I'm giving it just over 50% chance, but YMMV.
If you think we're completely misreading the situation and it's 100% not going to happen, then great - this isn't your conversation. We're happy to look like fools in a few years. If not, then what possible outcomes do you think there might be, what is the probability of those outcomes, and how do you want to react to that?
You definitely can . If you want help finding ways to make it happen, drop an email to [email protected] and we'll set up a video consult.
