I do use a Dvorak_ES layout and it works perfectly fine in both Sway and Hyprland. I assume Colemark would too.

Isn't that just a fact? Like, I get why words such as "removed" should be avoided due to it being an insult et all, but wheelchair bound? English is a funny language so I might be missing something.

We have tons of problems today due to overextenring backwards compatibility to a point in which it just crates more tech debt than the benefits it brings. Windows and X11 are great examples, at least Windows is still being maintained.
You can even define configurations for different systems/hosts/users from a single place. I'ev atomized my config and I can reuse lots of parts for my different machines. Also my user config is nearly identical (except hardware specific things).
