You misunderstand the point of the rules, this is not an appropriate forum for some difficult discussions because the prioritization is safety. It's a hugbox sure, but that's just a community choice that is no better or no worse than having the goal of "better conversations".

Nobody who is doing critical support for Putin is saying "America should be ruled like Russia".

The groups you mention in their political context do not have alternatives that exhibit the following traits:

  1. The strength to defend against imperialism to the same degree
  2. Socialist politics

Political context matters.

Counterpoint hexbear was never good.

What I meant by "fair read" is that the people who are "pro-Luigi" are posting a lot of positive meme in lieu of having actual topical conversations, and its fair to read into the statement that mods are "anti-Luigi" as a whole and would rather not see it. I think the mods are actually being incredibly generous with the leeway here. I'd ban anyone hot posting if it was up to me.

I think the evolution of social media forms like "reddit" has really lead to people putting on "airs" as to what being "part of the community" is.

You're never going to have consistent amazing in depth theory discussions here or on the internet at large. Being part of the community on every site is the same you either are prolific at posting memes other people go haha at and give updoots to, or you're doing jannie shit.

The idea that it's anything more is an entirely individualistic social media marketing ideal sold to you by social media companies. The only way to get beyond the posting memes or doing jannie shit, is to have an extremely small curated site that's only browsed by knowledgeable individuals, or by only having a site with your IRL friends on it. Hexbear is neither of those.

I think people are taking this as “Don’t talk about the shooting anymore and do a personal growth because you’re problematic” which isn’t it at all.

Honestly it's a fair read TBH. A lot of the "he's hot" shit is because people don't have anything else new or good to post about this but want to keep posting.

0/10. Cringe.

Cuz mods don't care, don't have time to ideologically sort people, and don't have time to sort people by sincerity, simple as.

I've seen someone get banned on hexbear for doing Astartes posting (Warhammer 40k Space Marines start every other sentance with "Brother,") and get banned for misgendering for doing it to a femme mod.

At the end of the day it's a shit posting site so who care?

I really wonder if you guys are significantly younger than me, because this style of moderation is entirely a "thing" in leftist spaces. The original ShitRedditSays was moderated this same way, and you kinda just take the good with the bad. The general posting style is entirely the same too.

As ostensibly a "left unity" site, the problem is that tailism means two things at once:

  1. The denial of the vanguard as exalted (which is fine)
  2. The capitulation to the "tail" of the revolution (e.g. catering to fascists) (which is bad)

Beyond that it's very much ML specific language that most people here don't actually understand. Honestly one of the biggest crypto-"catering to fascists" things that's happening that wasn't called out is the "he's hot" type shit. It reminds me of that Amber interview where she talks about the addiction of the left to failed movements (Weather Underground, Black Panther Party, etc), and of the biggest things she points out is that it happens because people aesthetically like young hot cool people and cannot separate that from ideology.

techbros both enthusiastically support and enable/develop social murder too

There's an interesting irony that happens in the tech field that the jobs that often advertise as "valuable" and "moral" to society ultimately are actually some of the most damaging. The typical business model is neoliberalizing, what in a just society, would be public-owned infrastructure. A lot of these developers who think they're "doing good" are often simply building private roads at the expense of the public roads.
