It's so complicated bro. Because we don't want to be complicit in the genocide we are supporting.

I would say a majority hold a belief system in line with Marxism but you will need to understand that this has been intertwined with cultural and social belief systems.

There are military families, and families with strong roots within the party - kids will be expected to follow the line or are even inspired to do so. More educated family elders will encourage their children to do something that benefits Chinese society as a whole.

There are buildings and signs everywhere that commemorate China's history very much so inclusive of the communist party. Red stars, statues of revolutionaries and the working proletariat.

Short answer - taught about Marxism in schools and it's also tied with history study, practicing Marxist thought through media, people strive join the party because they are influenced to do so through family/media/work/school.

Additional note: Libs and class traitors still exist in China but are more likely to get physically punished and will tend to live overseas if they can and will breed lib children.

There was general infighting over leadership (there still is) and while some may argue that Deng Xiaoping was never trusted by Mao, I would argue that they were very much bonded by the fucking wars they fought together. The actual dispute was with the Gang of Four and the loyalists that followed Mao's wife and imo that it was a Marxist dispute over how the country would move forward. There is speculation that it was between the mistress and the wife and while interesting, holds less weight without hard evidence.

There are bourgeois elements and there always were. The class cannot disappear simply because a Marxist party is formed.

More so, Sun Yat-sen's dream for China is closer to what it is now as a cumulative result of everything that has transpired since the revolution - not just the single step forward of the revolution itself. In his recorded lectures (in regards to the path of China), two points of note: 1. never trust the U.S and 2. The USSR are strong but (I'm paraphrasing here as I haven't read the text in a year) don't follow them blindly.

I recommend visiting one of the major cities. Doesn't have to be Shanghai or Beijing as it gets a bit bougie. Chengdu also has some really awesome city planning and high concept architecture!

I'm chilling in China right now. Alot of ppl here would give this hanjian a stern talking to if not beat the shit out of them (the latter being the older generation who actually lived through the cultural revolution, stayed and saw how great the country has become).

Alot of people here are also party members. They dont wear fancy suits and drive expensive cars. They are just ordinary people, who fkn read the theory and have seen it materialised in their own hometowns. They are us.

Alas, libs will exist no matter what country you are in. The important thing to remember is they deserve to be laughed at.
