According to MS there are various validation steps when app is added to repository, including virus checks:

Each submission to the Windows Package Manager Repository is run through several antivirus programs. These programs all have different virus detection algorithms for identifying potentially unwanted applications (PUA) and malware.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/package-manager/package/repository#validation-process

So I guess it's safer to install apps trough winget, at least as much as much You trust Microslop doing good job.

Can't really say for VM installation, but I was able to install it to "login to terminal" stage on Dell XPS 15, that was 14-15 years ago and my knowledge about Linux terminal was rather limited to basic commands only (mainly those shared with DOS/PowerShell). Just give it a go, stick to instructions and it should be fine.

Looks really interesting, I'll try it as soon as there is non-piped docker-compose. I tried to deploy it with portainer but gave up after half hour of fiddling with url/ip:port combinations, I just cant make it work with NginxProxyManager.

Like Crunchy said, iGoogle was providing You with canvas on which You could place various types of widgets, resize them to your need and arrange as You want them. You could also create tabs so it was possible to categorise your RSS feeds (Sport, News, Hobby, etc). iDeck is my attempt at recreating that functionality.

iGoogle inspired start page with tabs support and built in RSS reader, weather, quote of the day widgets which can be resized and positioned around, couple customisation options are available as well. I was missing such type of app ever since iGoogle stopped being available, so here it is. There are probably some bugs lurking around which i'll try fix in coming days/weeks but it's usable for now.

Full disclosure, app was created with massive aid of LLMs (mainly Claude Sonnet)
