Not going to happen, they aren't going to risk anything for the sake of the plebs, as long as the money keeps rolling, and we aren't under direct threat of invasion or other annihilation which we're unlikely to be (though likely even then..), they will maintain whatever relationships they need to.

My jaw literally just dropped reading that.
I knew Lammy, who I used to think very highly of, was slowly shifting to the right when he first backed Starmer for leader, and I've seen some other disappointing things from him in the run up to and since the election, but I hadn't realised just how far gone he is, jfc.
This is what trying to fix an establishment from within looks like - to get in to positions of power, you must assimilate and serve their interests, or get purged.
~~Shocking~~ enraging, I think is a better fit.
No one asked you to die for anything.
But some of us don't have the privilege of choosing.
Whatever you imagine my sensibilities to be has nothing to do with it, you don't get to shift the blame, it's all on you to pick a side for yourself, and live with that choice.
this is how we ended Jim Crow
Yeah, and got whatever shit still remains today, including systemic white supremacy and slavery.
As for the imaginary line between "protest", "freedom fighting", and "terrorism", it is one your oppressor has defined to make sure people like you turn your backs on those actually brave enough to take on them and their system in the only meaningful way there is to oppose it. Maybe consider thinking more critically about the world and who defines its rules for you.
So while we're bringing up grandparents - I'm going to take my lead from some of my own, who were armed partisans in the Polish forests, and armed fighters in a ghetto rebellion, shooting Nazis because they knew it is the only way to defeat them. (E: and if you're only ok with people fighting back once they're in the cage, you have chosen the side of those doing the caging)
Enjoy your sit in, those of us directly in the firing line don't have time to learn our lessons from the white washed history those who want to suppress us teach.
E: oh, and while we're here, and since you brought up Jim Crow, maybe consider the words of MLK, and where you fit in on the demanding order over justice scale:
I must make two honest confessions to you, my Christian and Jewish brothers. First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season." Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.
No, the word you're looking for might be civil disobedience, but there is nothing civil about what I have in mind, nor should there be.
I reserve my civility for those who extend it to me, not for fucking fascists and Nazis who want to kill marginalised people for who we are.
Also, considering how long the Vietnam travesty went on for, and how little, if any, impact the protests against it had, I wouldn't be so quick to use them as a reference.
Spicy chai with a touch of vanilla flavoured oat milk, I have 2 cups a day at least.
I used to mostly drink regular tea, and also enjoy earl grey, and especially if I'm not feeling well and want to avoid caffeine - jasmine (probably my favourite non-tea tea), chamomile, mint, and a few others, but the chai has beaten all others and become my staple.
I just figured it was from a show or movie I've never heard of or something, don't worry about it!
Ah, that makes more sense, thanks! 😂
I don't get the reference, sorry.. 😬
There's only so long you can pretend not to hear when they tell you exactly who they are.
Anyone who still claims to be against fascism and considers themselves in any way left leaning, and still supports not only democrats, but the idea that the system can somehow be reformed or fixed from within, is either in complete denial or completely full of shit (because they are neither antifascist nor left leaning).
Yeah, definitely going to do a bit of a deep dive later, they seem fantastic.
