Working in IT at the time, we were fairly sure things would be fine by the time New Years Eve rolled around,. Even going so far as to camp overnight outside at the Rose Parade, a wild time on a normal year and ridiculous in 1999 with Colorado Blvd packed with partyers.

The moment came and, of course, nothing really happened...except some GENIUS thought it would be a good idea to set off a giant firework at the college next door, scaring the living shit out of a few thousand people. Good times.

The problem is where you said "as long as" because we already know companies AND the AI itself can't be trusted to not expose sensitive info inadvertently. At absolute best, it's another vector to be breached.

We are but I just use a Lemmy viewer that can block entire instances, problem solved.

We had a guy learn Dvorak specifically so no one could take his keyboard. Madman or brilliant?

If it takes three paragraphs and your specific voting location to explain why your vote "technically" won't go to 45, maybe those people are right. The problem is that there are a LOT of people that don't understand the nuance and we have to plan for the lowest common denominator, otherwise people in actual swing states will see posts like your first one (lacking any explanation) and run with it. For them, a third party vote actually is helping 45.

Additionally, there's a decent argument to be made about total votes even though they don't "technically" decide the president. That number still matters and a lot of weight is thrown around with it. For all we know, this whole thing could hit the courts and having every advantage may be necessary to save our future.

I love kbin but being a one man show and lacking API it was never really going to be the replacement. I am, however, glad to have it as one of a handful of smaller alternatives and a sort of cousin to Lemmy.

All the tasty data collection and surveillance with none of the calories.

You're just the right kind of evil, that's amazing.

He's been saying it for decades (literally), it's only now that it garners so much attention. Look, I can find 100 reasons to dislike the guy but being consistent isn't one of them.

How come we get the full post instead of just the image? Is this because of the crosslink method?
