There are opportunists who believe politics is like a brand, that you've got to dish out the product which is in high demand by prospective clients.

Then there's us, who believe politics can transform people. If they're wrong now, we'll show them why they're wrong, let them reflect on it and hopefully expect them to change their views.

I feel you, I'm not a confrontational person either. But you've reached a point where there's a red line --and it's RED--, drawn not by opportunism but by axiomatic moral principle. This is good, it's in fact great.

Some people around the Grad can give more specific advise, but the rule of thumb is speak softly, try to be calm, and go straight to the point. Like, if you were "debating" a flat-earther, you would start by saying "the Earth is round", and then build your arguments from there. This way you show them you're sure of your stance.

My argument would basically be this is right-wing bullshit which leads to red-brownism (patsoc). In Spain, the fascist communists are a tiny speck of shit led by a certain Roberto Vaquero. They're indistinguishable from Vox or Falange, because they hate Moroccans and feminists. 99% of the Left pisses on these red-brown shitstains and defends gays, women and foreigners in various degrees.

Be strong Comrade, you have our support.

The debate sure is nuanced, but all theory must ultimately be practical. Praxis is the heart of Marxism. So I would question what does X organization to support present struggles.

All those guys are long dead and all have their merits and their defects. Here on Lemmygrad we tend more to the tankie side (that's Stalin, but not only him) because we understand we are about to live in the times of the Second Anti-Fascist World War and that'll require more than hugs & prayers. But rightists really love leftist infighting over dead guys, so most of the time it isn't worth.

TL;DR: support Cuba, Venezuela, etc. and critically support anyone who's doing their share to bring down the Empire.

Hello Lemmians,

I've recently moved over to Linux Mint for Windows and I'm very happy with the decision. There are only like 2 things I can't do on Mint but I'm confident I could do them if I invested some more time. Anyway, my system is on dual boot so I could start Windows if I wanted to / needed it.

Now, I'd love to do the same on my phone, basically eliminating techbrofash stuff and replacing it with something FOSSy. It's a Samsung from 2018, do I have any chances? Specifically, having to use a Google account all the time bugs me.

I'm not a heavy phone user since I prefer computers, but as you all understand I'm not keen on having Netanyahu & friends know at what time of night I pee.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

A communist is someone who wants food, roof, school and medicine for the children. A tankie is someone who understands that capital-fascists will never allow it, that only lead can stop said capital-fascists.

Just like the US, their military theory is stuck in Command & Conquer: Generals and Reagan-era chud movies.

Since 1945, economic warfare is the main aspect of war. Lots of cheap missiles and drones will beat a prohibitively expensive supersystem which probably requires the energy of a small city just to function.

Enzo Traverso wrote on the topic, let me give you the basic idea.

Rightist French historians snuck in the idea that Robespierre = Stalin to defamate communism. The kind of people who strangely did not condemn Vichy France, yknow.

So in the end there are "good" and "bad" revolutions. Usa 1776 good cause muh freedemz, Russia 1917 bad because gulag. And the French rev sits 50-50 there.

Hello Lemmians:

Lemmy, Mastodon and specially Lemmygrad are oceans of peace (mostly) because fashy smartpants, botlikers and stomtroopers get b& like a boss.

You may have heard of ForoCoches (a better name would be ForoFachas). Despite its old bulletin board style, it attracts hell of a lot of traffic in the Spanish language. According to metrics, it is THE biggest forum in Spanish.

The problem? It has been utterly corrupted by fascists and nazis since 10+ years. Go take a peek, the meekest thread in General goes like "we'll put Pedro Sánchez and the feminists against the wall at minute 0 of Civil War 2", and "who do you prefer, a Charo (= Karen) or an Austrian Painter?"

Well, it's utter shit to be honest. Only good for shitposting, but even that gets tiresome.

Now, let's talk about the model this shithole and similar spaces follow. Basically you pay to get an account, which can be banned and then you pay again for a 2nd account. Then there's the ads. So it's a bunch of rich technobros living off the hate.

Sounds familiar? Yes, it's the same shit on X.

Let me apply a bit of Lenin here. The left needs to own the means of production. When applied to the means of communication, this is why I support Canal Red. But we also need internet commons such as spaces like Masto or Lemmy. We also need to own the memes of production ;) So this is also why I support Lemmy since I created an account here 2 months ago or so.

The actual question

Wtf can one do to remedy the situation? Persuade people, open instances...? I believe we absolutely need something like Lemmygrad but in Spanish and meme the fash out of existence (also using tools other than memes ofc). Or maybe there's some mythical leftist space in Spanish I've never heard of.

EDIT: In case I'm not being clear: we need politized, militant internet hangouts.

EDIT 2: As always thanks for the replies! :)

The only logical answer is the real time downfall of capitalism, but it could also be they are getting ready for a Hearts of Iron 4 LAN party where all of Europe and North America are fascist and Axis.

Hello Cfgaussian, I appreciate your analysis on practically everything. Thanks for sharing this.

I don't think you need to go into further detail since you already identify the crux of the problem very well. The West lives by the motto: "it is easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism".

Of course, this is part of the cultural war waged by burgers against the people. Keep us demoralized. Muh Fallout but no Lenin, sorry. I'm a big fan of the Fallout series, but I came to recognize the very same problems you tell about in your post.

In other words, post-apocalyptic America looks like post-industrial Detroit than anything else. A couple of good memes float on this theme.

Now, going back on topic: how about sharing the Chinese media you've watching? This way we can see for ourselves 😀

The failure would come from not doing anything or being a traitor like that lib you described.

On the contrary, I believe you're being very brave in the face of US liberal-fascism. Not unlike Jewish communists in Germany in the 30's - 40's. The powers-that-be got nervous because you are doing something that unsettles them.

If the fash rage about your actions, that's a good sign 99% of the time. The only valid leftist politics are those which annoy the right.

As far as I can see, you may need a temporary retreat to reorganise, mentally and as a collective, to strike later. When facing too strong odds, that may be the superior strategy.

"I am X"... The question is not what we are now, but what we will be tomorrow. Communism will win.

Hola a todes:

Hello, fellow Reds.

Since the Syrian War I've heard leftists speak of Rojava, but I've never understood the importance or significance of it.

Well, we should maybe start by defining what it is / was.

Partially related (partially?), I'm reading the Kurds or a part of them is CIA-backed and that "anarkids are going to fall for it again". This is in relation to Kurds attacking Iran by proxy.

So I need a bit of context about the region.

Thanks 😁

EDIT: Thanks for the replies! I understand the topic much better now 😀 One can never, ever, accept to become a tool of imperialism and/or the right (not a big difference anyway).

You'll have to excuse me, because the headline should be "Israel has never stopped invading Lebanon".

23 years ago, good sepoy Jose Maria Aznar from the Popular Party (Francoist right) joined the Iraq war against the 90% who protested against (numbers are give or take).

Aznar became rich with Blackrock deals. His name is on the Epstein address book as Aznar Jose.

So fuck the wars of rich pedos. No war but class war.

[English-speaking comrades: there is a auto-translate option in YouTube for these videos. If you don't mind machine translation / voices... Reading Lemmy, I come to the impression there are very few good political analysis channels in English beyond self-serving influencers.]

In China, the State prosecutes corrupt businessmen. But in the West, corrupt businessmen prosecute the State!

Written like a Russian reversal joke but sadly true, though.

Still trying to find tears which mysteriously don't come out when I hear of millionaire crooks being sentenced to death in the PRC. Must be where I left the other tears for the United Health CEO.

Hello everyone (lemmygrad.ml)

Hello everyone, I've just joined Lemmygrad.

I wanted to say I have been lurking this site for a year and it has been an eye-opener.

In particular, there is something that has long bugged me. It's people who say "capitalism bad, but somehow communism worse [insert Warhammer 40K level of victims]". Yet they pretend to be on the left.

Well, thanks to Lemmygrad, I have learnt to identify those useful idiots from the liberal camp. In Spain, my native country, we call them "progres" (from progressive, but better understood more or less as "succ-dems").

I highly respect the opinions you all post here. Not only are they well-researched but also compellingly presented.

In case you're wondering, my radicalisation pipeline was Jacobin -> Mastodon -> Lemmy. But I also come from a family with leftist traditions. It was my old man who introduced me to Marxism. Sadly, he burnt out during the long neoliberal desert post-1989.

Beyond languages and philosophy, I'm a video game nerd. Not gonna lie, I've used the ideas in the Gaming community to defend games as art in an academic essay.

I don't have much time to post because of real-life responsibilities. Anyway, I wanted to show you all my appreciation.

Thanks. Let's continue the struggle until the fash heil Hitler in hell.

EDIT: Addendum to the "two devils of capitalism = communism": it totally destroys hope in the alternative. It is a form of shitty nihilism.

EDIT 2: Thanks to you all for the heartwarming welcome :)
