Nice list, but i have Extra Engines i want to include:(Only engines considered "legal",note: some of these i didnt test myself, but this may contain reverse engineering projects . )

For Omni-Engine (Lego Island branch only)comments: it also adds new features and improvements to Lego Island like multiplayer(Experimental),WASD Support, etc.
ISLE-Portable:
Play it on your browser
Source code

For Touhou's/Seihou's engine games
PyTouhou (For EOSD branch only):
Caveats: missing some features, git server down due to LLMS,pre-build binaries are quite old.
Downloads
Source Code (likely down)
for PC-98 branch only:
Caveats: it doesn't seem like it has cross-platform support.
comments: seems like its mainly focused on reverse engineering
Source code
marginally releated to Touhou but not really part of Touhou Project:
For Seihou Project (Shuusou Gyoku branch):
comments: Windows only binaries,Linux binary available as a Flatpak.
Source code

For Source engine games
comment: steam_legacy branch only, also does not work with TF2 Branch games, despite its name it also works on Windows,Macos and Most Linux distros.
Wiki about it
The SDK is also a thing too,but am not gonna include it here.

For Id tech 4 engine games(i think DOOM 3 branch only)
dhewm3:
Source code
RBDoom3BFG(For BFG branch):
Source code

for Space cadet pinball
comment:Yes that one Windows XP game.
Source code

for NetImmerse engine games(The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind branch only)
openMW:
Download
Source code

for RPG Maker 2003(Oneshot branch)

[-] Mwa 28 points 4 days ago

it can be books, video games,Movies,TV Shows, etc(though i will be focusing mainly on Video Games)
i wanted to ask long running/active since it would be more interesting.
i would love to hear your answers!

my attempt at the rules defining Active and Long Running
am also not sure the definition of long running/active.
maybe the last game(dlcs, updates and unreleased games dont count) should be from 1-3 years ago(or makes video games atleast every 1-3 years as of 2026), and the franchise should have first existed from atleast 2004-2006 or older i think.
it can also be that it says online that its still present

My list
so let me start:
franchise dates as of March 10,2026(if i dont say present it does not mean the franchise is dead)
Video games:

  • Touhou Project(1997-2025): I love Touhou 18,good fanbase/fan content(for the most part atleast),good OST.
the bad thing tbh it used GenAI (its not as bad as it sounds though)
its franchise/video games are pretty Niche but good.
currently taking a hiatus (under the end of march/early April) but i will be back so am still including it here.
  • DOOM(1993-2025): well you guys know this ,DOOM 1 from 1993 and DOOM II are pretty good. but i prefer this open source version called FreeDOOM.(and put some TC mods on top of FreeDOOM)
the bad thing is the company behind it(Bethesda then Microsoft)
  • Asphalt(2004-2023): has been a while since i played any of its games,unsure .
like DOOM bad company good game

and thats what i remember

(i apologize if i posted this 3 times,my client glitched out )

Hi lemmy So i was curious why Enlightenment didn't recieve much adoption in the Linux Desktop. (especially for a fully featured lightweight wayland DE)
Ik Bodhi Linux uses Enlightenment, but it's more of Moksha rather then using Enlightenment

Cause

  • Lighter then LXQT
  • Somewhat customizable

But I can see people not liking it cause.

  • the ui(especially for windows users)
  • Hard to find themes due to it using its own toolkit
