I've been noticing myself that sorting by active or hot just gives me days old posts, so I've been sorting by new but it's not a great experience. this should be a pretty good middle ground.

Not sure what's happening with the ranking algorithm, but it seems like the default main page is still displaying the same set of popular posts from a few days ago.

But if you switch to sorting by "Top Day," it'll show fresh popular posts from the past day.

It took me probably less than a month to completely stop checking Digg altogether. Reddit's decidedly less slick interface had me confused and the content wasn't as easy to digest as with Digg, but it didn't take long to completely abandon it. That was like ten years ago.

I guess a small point I'm trying to make is that you shouldn't feel "shame" for checking reddit. You'll adjust and learn to love whichever alternative you choose

Like the antiwork fiasco. I remember the astroturfing going on where they tried to move people over to "work reform" aka we like work and bosses are good!

expert posters that would write 2 intelligent pages on a subject.

Basically the main thing I'm looking for in my replacement tbh.

Maybe they're doing "server maintenance" for the next 48 hours so the blackout seems like it was just planned maintenance lmao
