I wouldn't call it adiction per-se, but my problem with WoW is that even though I hate what Blizzard is doing, the extreme loss of quality both in game (recent example - they released a patch where one of the main feature are class campaigns, and 8/12 questlines didn't work and had major 100% repro blockers, like requiring items that do not exist) and in Customer Support, and how it's more and more obvious that they just want to milk the playerbase of their money without any kind of effort, I still keep playing. It's not love-hate relationship, I actively dislike Blizzard.

But, it's one of the only games my partner is playing and that we can play together, and I also have a lot of friends in the guild I've been playing for the past two years with. I mostly just log in for a dungeon or two with her, or a regular raid night with my guild, which I enjoy.

If I stopped playing, I'd give up a lot of friends and also an activity with my partner that we're mostly used to. She doesn't really play other games. So far, it's still worth it, but I'm really conflicted every time I have to give Blizzard more money, since I'm basically held hostage.

I highly recommend looking for a free server, i.e Turtle WoW (assuming it won't get shut down, they are getting sued IIRC), because those people are actually making an effort to make a game they love better. Blizzard is just exploiting people like me, and their nostalgia, without any regard for the game. It's a shame Morhaim lost the battle against capitalism and was driven out, and it's extremely aparent on the quality of the game and direction Blizzard is going.

Just to be clear - the game in itself is pretty all right and fun to play, what I have issue with is the way how extremely obvious is that Blizzard does not give a fuck, produces low-quality slop without any semblance of QA, and just plain exploits the playerbase. It could've been so much better with the resources they have, but they chose not to, and just cut corners more and more. And I highly despise that. Patches are broken, there's reskinned content that's heavily time-gated, and it just screams "low effort".

Do yourself a favor and don't think about giving Blizzard money.

It might be a pain to setup on Bazzite (it's probably better to just use ostree-rpm for the prerequisities), but it's exactly the same kind of magic, but for Windows apps!

I discovered powertoys only recently, and it's a pretty cool set of tools. From color picker, tiling window manager to regex file renames or copy/paste tools, it has a lot of QoL features.

If you have to be on windows, i.e due ro work, I recommend not sleeping on it.

I'm using GrapheneOS, and suprising amount of apps (including my bank app) works without Google Services. And if there's something I need for work that doesn't work without them, I have another profile with sandboxed Google play (which isn't enabled on my main profile), and use the app there, where it's separated from all of my data. No need to root my phone, and so far it worked great.

As for sharing your Nextcloud stuff, what I did was for services that need to be public, I just got a cheap (like, few dollars per year) domain and use Cloudflare Tunnel (Cloudflared). It handles all port forwarding for you, and you don't have to make anything public on your router - just install cloudflared on the server and have it forward the port you want to your domain. You can also set up geoblocking and ACL pretty easily, so it's perfect for that.

I've however recently moved to using ZeroTier, because it has a nice mobile VPN app, so I just run zerotier (it's literally two commands to install and join a network) on my server, and if I need to access something there I just launch it on my phone and connect through ZeroTier. This, however, won't help if you want to share stuff from your server with others, since they'd have to install a ZeroTier client and also join your network. For Jellyfin, Nextcloud and Sunshine, though, it's amazing.

And if that still feels like too much hassle for you, I'd recommend looking into Proton Drive. I'd consider that one of the best hassle-free alternatives to GDrive, which launched recently.

There's not much they can do about PGP, though. Sure, encrypting stuff manually can get a little bit annoying, but nothing a quick browset extension wouldn't fix.

The moat difficult part will ve convincing your friends to use it, and actually sharing keys, but if you really need to hide what you're talking about, it's not like stopping a e2e rollout will help in amy capacity. Quite the contrary - people who they want to target with this will only start to be even more carefull, reaulting in them loosing access even to those backdoored privacy messengers they already probably have and criminals rely on.

But then you are risking an actual reprecussion for your actions, and would have to deal with consequences of several really pissed of corporations with a recipe about how much money did your actions costed them in damages, that would be pretty hard to wriggle yourself out of.

Which is exactly why (proper) protesting isn't easy to do in the slightest, and you have to really believe in the cause to resort to such things. And that is how it should be. It's also why you only end up with with random people blocking inconsequantial roads or ruining glass-protected paintings. Because they want attention, they want to feel good that they're doing something, and protesting is the edgy thing to do that nobody understands. But at the end of the day, they want to go back to their instagram so they can post about it, instead of dealing with the consequences.

If you resort to such a drastic action, and protesting definitely is a drastic action, at least the kind the post is talking about, you should sacrifice something other than your free time and a pocket change in fees, otherwise it has no value. That's why demonstrations held at a weekend or holidays feel so cheap, if you aren't even willing to take your time off for it, whats the point?

I wouldn't for most of them. So I don't attend. But all these "feel-good" demonstrations and protests are only succeeding in undermining the grave nature of protests and demonstrations, to the point where no-one really needs to take them seriously.
