I'm guessing it would be more like, *Hey, Bob, watch this!"

My significant other and I still talk about how great the internet was in the 90s. You could be yourself without having to mask. You didn't have to focus on the visual because uploading a picture either wasn't feasible or just took too long and too much data. No selfies, just being yourself with people you'd probably never meet, discussing mutual interests, and not having your interactions commoditized or interrupted with ads.

I guess the upside to the vast commercialization and commoditization of every last aspect of the internet is that there's a lot of greedy dystopian conventions to write about. I've got a few cyberpunk stories I'm going to include in an upcoming collection that utilize some examples of that issue.

Yeah, the soundtrack was great, even as a standalone.

She got the name Omelas from reading a road sign for Salem, Oregon backwards.

The Doctor Who episode The Beast Below presents a similar dilemma, except with the option for amnesia.

EMP, MRI, or what about anti-nanobots? If you can program nanobots that kill people with particular DNA, couldn't you program nanobots that target other nanobots? I would assume they hadn't yet built in a self-defense protocol for the nanobots since they were cutting edge and not assumed to have any countermeasures yet. Anti-nanobots seem just as plausible as DNA targeting nanobots.

If the goal is to spend less time with the diminishing returns of gaming, it could be effective while utilizing their interest and experience and possibly inspire other creative projects.

I'm not sure insulting people is the most effective way to win them over to your perspective.

You seem to attribute to character flaws what is more commonly just practical decisions.

It's frustrating when some game devs only increase enemy health and attack power to increase difficulty. Depending on the game, I'm usually inclined to want smarter enemies. Fortunately some games do this.

On easy mode, I should be able to one shot a dude who doesn't use cover well. On hard mode, the same guy should be moving around and using cover and shooting straighter. He shouldn't just be a bullet sponge but still failing to use cover well.

Also, if someone is able to take multiple shots, their ability to attack should decrease. I get that someone wants to argue that it's possible in real life that an assailant could take five bullets before stopping, but if I shoot them in the gun arm, they shouldn't be able to shoot straight or at all. One percent health shouldn't involve the same threat level as 100%.

A decent filament dryer is about $40 - 70. Might be worth the investment if you think you'll run into this issue frequently.

The short story of New Rose Hotel felt more cyberpunk than the movie ended up being, but it was well cast.

Johnny Mnemonic was a decent cyberpunk movie.

I'm eager to see if the Neuromancer movie ever gets made. It's been in production limbo forever.
