It's just like Peertube. Cool concept in theory, but breaks down once you consider the less fun parts of it (storage volume).

Gonna be really hard to figure out how to make solid Fedi alternatives to image/video-based social media.

Nothing to contribute honestly, I just want to say that this is the funniest post i've seen on lemmy

  • Lo-fi hip hop instrumentals. Think Nujabes and related producers or MF DOOM and Madlib beats.
  • Jungle/atmopheric DNB. NOT breakcore because I know electronic fans are rabid about genres and categories.
  • High paced rap and rock/metal. Counter-intuitive for studying but great for physical exercise. This is mostly newer style rap.

Newgrounds would be awesome in the Fediverse tbh, would bring so much content (beyond politics and news).

Image hosting seems to be super problematic with activity pub, especially with something pf Newgrounds' size. I'm super invested in this, can't wait to see where it'll go.

Yeah I've pretty much accepted that kbin.social is just gone at this point. I also owned a community there (/m/ai). I didn't have any spammers appear, but it eventually just died since spam ruined the rest of the instance.

The signs were already there months in advance, but most of us stayed on the instance in hopes that the dev would eventually take up one of the offers to help maintain the instance. Was fun while it lasted, and was the best alternative to Reddit for sure as a software. I don't even know how Ernest kept up with development during the initial Reddit exodus lol.

Honestly, I'm not impressed with Lemmy so far and I don't really vibe with mbin for personal reasons even though the software is great.

This whole kbin story has just pointed out a lot of flaws in the Fediverse as a whole for me. I still like the idea, but the execution needs improvement.

I literally cannot use Linux at the moment due to incompatible software, as much as I love Linux and use it on every other computer I own.

These posts about Windows and other mainstream platforms are helpful or interesting for some of us, I wish people on Lemmy would stop shooting them down just because they don't like Windows/Micro$oft.

Came here to say exactly this. My favorite video game trilogy of all time, played through each campaign countless times and multiplayer on MCC from time to time. Never gets old.

This has been a long time in the making...hopefully Firefox will see a market share increase. Google is doing this right as they get slapped by an antitrust ruling ironically lol. If you haven't already just go ahead and switch, if you like Lemmy you'll probably like Firefox as well.

Side note: I try not to be negative here, but this would be a great time for Mozilla to get their act together as an organization. Love Firefox and the idea, but Mozilla has been pissing off the FOSS space for a while now with their decisions. If they've improved in recent years, disregard this.

I know some people who will buy vinyls but that's as far as it goes for physical media in music. Music CDs are pretty much foreign objects in 2024 and people just stream instead.

A CD would be cool, but where am I ever going to use it? I don't have a CD player at all...but I do have an Apple Music subscription. A vinyl at least is large and works better as a decoration. Don't really see the point in using a CD.

If I want to support the artist I'm seeing, I just buy clothing instead.

P.S. we don't know what a skibidi toilet is either. Ask gen alpha.

Eh this is the same guy who has promised real self-driving cars within 2 years....every 2 years. I'll believe it when I see it.

(also why is OP being downvoted for posting the article, it's news and from a reputable site)

Preposterous. Sounds hilarious, and looks/sounds very sophisticated in a good way.

Windows 10 was half decent as an operating system to be honest, just doesn't stack up to 7. 8/8.1 is where the enshittification began and it continued with 11.
