It was updated before wiping yes. Those macs are abandonware, they stopped receiving firmware update a while ago. Followed no guide, the install wizard was very easy. All components worked out of the box

even if they cannot be upgraded they are incredibly well built (excluding those with butterfly keyboards, steer away from those) and will likely outlive any PC you might have from the same year

Indeed, what makes the trip pleasant is not the truck, it is the yatch. The truck does takes you to places though, and we are all grateful!

Wayland is better at segmenting each app. On X any app could potentially see/record what happen on the entire screen while on Wayland that requires you do manually grant the rights. Similar to how macOS is requesting you to give each app the possibility to record your screen or not.

You could look into the Fossil hybrid smartwatches, the battery lasts up to two weeks and they have a decent amount of sensors
