The only thing I can think at this point is "fuck Ukraine, let me out of here".
Is it usable without knowing Mandarin? It've been getting into Chinese cooking recently and could use some of that.
Yeah, makes sense. Thanks!
Well, there are some anti-communist tones in the portrayal of the game's setting, but ultimately neither the characters nor the game itself doesn't have much to say about the politics. Its themes are much more personal, and the politics are mentioned only in passing. The DDR aesthetic is a set dressing.
But it does fuck.
Edit: I should also mention that the aesthetics at least partly come from the 1970s DDR sci-fi flick "Signale", which I didn't watch. Maybe they're just the authors channeling their childhoods?
Signalis
Signalis very quickly became one of my favourite games of all times. In the end it turned out less anti-communist than I initially feared, mostly due to it's story being not really about politics.
I definitely simp for the space DDR though.
You're right, normalcy was never a thing. At least, not within my lifetime.
But at least I'd like to live without the fear of being kidnapped and press-ganged into the military, you know?
You're pretty much spot on.
The tea is absolutely the superior drink.
I don't know what's going on, but I'm glad to hear a comrade feels better!
I know it's not good to generalise, but at this point I can't help but see burgerlanders as fundamentally evil.
I bloody hope so. I can't take it here anymore.

This war will go on forever, won't it? I'll die here.
