The latter
I don't use tor much. My main use case at the moment is using the tor browser for all the sites that block me because I use a vpn. Works most of the time. I have a small list of onion sites that are only accessible through tor but it's more of "break glass in case of privacy emergency" type of thing.
Just saw a report yesterday that systemd will implement age verification, meaning it might not be up to the distros.
No they haven't, they added a field where a user can store their birthday, as required by law in parts of the US.
That's an obvious foot in the door. The law is going to get worse. And we users expect the services we've been trusting all this years to see that too and act accordingly in response. As long as the critiscism remains civil, it's perfectly valid.
Do you want linux get banned in California?
There is no single Linux. Each distro should have the agency to decide for themselves how or if they want to operate in California.
Chocolate Factory describes concession as an attempt to balance openess with safety
I describe the concession as an attempt to balance ending user agency with public backlash
Jesus that post is bleak. It's basically "Please write your political representative to do something or we're forced to close up shop". Since all our political representatives are walking around with massive hard-ons at the idea of surveilling us, it's basically a poorly veiled good bye note.
In before EU genocides all starlings because you can't put backdoors in them to scan for CSAM.
I honestly think their marriage was in shambles and he's glad he doesn't have to deal with it. That's the only way this makes sense.
"I don't think there is any European country that would arrest Netanyahu,"
Anyone not complying with the ICC arrest warrant not only deletigimitizes the ICC, but also makes themselves complicit in a genocide. This is literally criminal.
Why should I follow any laws anymore if my leadership takes a massive dump on the most important ones?
I've seen the effects on invidious these past days. 8 in 10 instances have been broken. Google is putting some serious work into shutting alternate frontends down. Shows you how much of a dent they're putting in the bottom line.

My guess is that it's a lot easier to get a list of IPs to block from VPN providers than tor exit nodes
