I have an old Google account that I only use for one specific thing today: YouTube recommendations.

Their algorithm is actually decent. Which is not something I hear myself very often. And while it can be a trap, it does actually recommend me a fair bit of high quality content as long as I stay away from the obvious traps, make sure to block channels I don't like, and use the feature "not interested" on videos that I don't like.

However. I would like to only use my web feed client and no Google account at all, but I would then miss out on the recommended videos.

Is there some privacy respecting alternative to this that I'm not aware of?

No. And the dev(s) have said that they refuse to implement such feature. :(

I don't know what "higher roast" is, but if you're talking about dark roast, then 100°C is pure madness!

I brew my dark roast at 85°C using a ceramic Hario V60. I do preheat it though.

With that said, I don't recommend a specific temperature, but you should perhaps not be afraid to experiment with lower temperature.

And don't forget to check out Lance Hedrick on YouTube. He have a tons of tips and recommendations for the best brew that you can make with your equipment and your water.

As I see it, they have multiple options that don't require any effort:

  1. Not use a banner at all.
  2. Ask the community to make one for them.
  3. Use an image from any of the free services like Unsplash.

There's no valid reason to use an unethical AI to create some poorly created image.

And there's no reason for you to behave with such poor manners either. It's better to either keep quiet if you don't have anything positive or constrictive to come with, or preferably, be a positive person that lead with good examples.

Please don't use racist slur.

I don't know who this is, but he clearly made some people here upset. :D

The whole post is about him not finding any sensible use for a 1 Gbit Internet connection for himself. He never ever mention any one else.

I really don't understand how this can be offensive for anyone else. Why is he not allowed to have an option about himself?

PS. I do believe that the title is somewhat click-bait though.

There's always Devuan if you want Debian before Debian moved to systemd.

And 100% of the parents needs to stop using big tech. They're parents and they can't do dumb shit and not expect their kids to do the same thing as them.

I can also recommend Linux Mint. It's a great general purpose option for both beginners and experienced users.

Helium should be fine. They're, to my understanding, a fork of ungoogled-chromium, and they seem to proxy all calls to Google for you. It shold be a safe enough web browser for 'regular' people who care about their privacy.

It does, and there's nothing you can do about it either, other than, obviously, switching to an alternative web browser.

That's an old copypasta. It never happened. And the boy in the original story was from Venezuela, and it was his uncle who helped him. Not that it really matters.

Edit: Spelling.

They're really working hard on ruining it for everyone, including themselves. Greed has never been profitable in the long run.
