As someone who has used the term before.

Social liberal: I think you should be able to do whatever you want in your personal life, even if it harms yourself. I'm willing to negotiate with harming consenting adults while recognizing the possibility, even likelihood, of an imbalance of power making it difficult to properly give consent, or for it to be recognized by the public at large, e.g., maybe Amazon workers aren't really okay with peeing in bottles because they don't have enough time or facilities for bathroom breaks, just because they accepted the job. Doing things that harm those you have guardianship over is not acceptable because they are not in a position to give consent.

Fiscal conservative: I want money in the public trust to be spent effectively. This doesn't mean I want less taxes, I'm in fact okay with more. A city near me has 30% of its budget dedicated to police services, yet we have some of the highest violent crime in Canada. The simple fact is, a lot of crime is driven by poverty and lack of opportunity. So why are we paying to catch and jail poor people with no skills who are trying to survive and not paying for skills training, robust childhood education, and at least minimal supports so people don't have to be desperate enough to risk their lives and mine so they can survive? It doesn't make sense and there's no indication it's working. FYI, school meal programs tend to help the local economy to the tune of about $7 for every $1 you spend on them. That sounds terribly fiscally responsible to me...

Yes, resistive heat is expensive, but that's only part of what makes heat pumps in cars more effective. They don't just heat your cabin, they heat your battery so you maintain range while it's cold out. Here's an article with more details and some pretty infographics.

Moving fast and breaking things can be a great R&D philosophy...when health and safety aren't a concern or have been addressed.

We really need to mark if Trump memes are real or made up. I hadn't heard that he said this, but I can totally believe it. I just don't have time to fact check every meme to know if I should be laughing or terrified that there's a potential or former leader who believes stuff like this.

Granted, both options are valid with Trump.

Who were the Ukrainians killing before Russia came to save them?

When a state used to have maternal outcomes similar to a developing nation's, then passed some new laws and it got worse, I'd say shitshow is too mild.

Even a Dyson sphere, which is technically unlikely anyway, would be possible to spot. You would look for something very bright in the infrared spectrum with almost no light in the visible spectrum. It would also be larger than a normal star of the same energy, but that would be hard to tell given all the other issues.

A partial swarm is easier because it will have variability towards more infrared and then back to a more normal spectrum.

And, of course, all this is speculation until we find a candidate and determine it doesn't have a natural source for that behavior.

That's the first couple steps on a long and possibly terrifying road. Sometimes not knowing is more comfortable. You've been warned.

Twitter was never good, it was just popular.

The judge also ruled that he must pay child support, which is an excellent outcome. Just because he's not worthy to exercise his parental rights doesn't mean he should be able to escape his responsibilities.

Take a look at the trends in Manitoba. Underfunded and mismanage, next step is saying private surely can't be worse, final step is privatize. They did it with MTS, they were on step 2 with healthcare, they were on step 1 with education, they were on step 2 with Hydro.
