We did get to the debate part, you can click the link and see how it went down. Goat was asked to provide a defense for points they made stating that Palestine ought to resist only by adopting Western liberal ideals, and that resistance by military means is illegitimate. They refused to actually elaborate on that point.

When prompted on forming revolutionary organizations in the United States, goat claimed that such an effort is useless because Americans will never amount to anything because they are too distracted.

Well, you're posting about a thread that went down on Hexbear where goat was engaging with us. I'm curious to know what facts and logic were actually provided that the "tankies" rejected.

Note that to actually land on the "auth left" quadrant in the political compass test you basically have to say you have extremely bigoted views. You have to say you want the government to enforce strict immigration laws, have no rights for women, etc etc but all of that combined with left wing economic views.

That's because the political compass test confuses where one stands with regards to the validity of the authority of the state (as in, anarchists believe the state ought not to exist at all, while Marxists generally believe it ought to exist but only while the revolution is taking place and socialism is being built to eventually replace capitalism with communism) with social views in general. It's perfectly possible to be an anarchist with regressive social views or a Marxist with progressive ones, but the political compass test doesn't really differentiate that at all and it would put the former in the auth left quadrant, and the latter in lib left.

I think this video by revolutionaryth0t did a good job of explaining why almost everyone on the left lands on the "lib-left" quadrant regardless of their actual theoretical stances.

Is it better to spend a similar amount of time criticizing "tankies" when "tankies" have never held political office in the US federal government, yet liberals, as in the Democratic Party, are the opposition party in the US and are the most common ideology in the Western world?

If the same amount of time was spent criticizing fascists on the slop community, most of the content would have to be censored because fascists are just too violent and say too many things that aren't even funny to laugh at, they're genuinely disturbing.

You said both Renee Nicole Good and Tank Man were murdered.

[-] FunkyStuff@sh.itjust.works 0 points 3 weeks ago

When did they say that?

[-] FunkyStuff@sh.itjust.works -3 points 3 weeks ago

You were acknowledging in the other posts you made off of these 2 threads that no one was actually massacred in the square. You know that. So why say that these tanks had just got done massacring protestors? You could pull attention to the part of the anti-China narrative that is true, that the same government to whom the tanks belong had been killing hundreds of protesters in the streets of Beijing at the same time.

[-] FunkyStuff@sh.itjust.works -2 points 3 weeks ago

I also assume everyone I see in a video of protests in the US eventually is murdered.

[-] FunkyStuff@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 weeks ago

Well that's interesting, tankies call you a transphobe unprompted? For no reason?

At this point I could play the game with the hexbear thread. They’ve already misquoted me by cutting off a part of my sentence to make it look like you should never even talk to them, lest they be right. My God, learn to fucking read lol.

You're right! Someone did cut off your quote! Then I responded with your full quote and said the following:

Hey, they actually said

Don’t feed the trolls. Don’t respond to anything, unless there is actually a legitimate attempt to have a legitimate discussion.

We often fail to provide well-meaning Lemmy users with legitimate arguments and good faith discussion. You know, like yesterday when @unknownuserunknownlocation@kbin.earth was telling us about how Tank Man was executed and we started responding really unfair things, like

Why do you think tank man was killed?

You got any sources to ground that assertion in reality, or are you completely full of shit?

And Joe Biden wwas replaced by a body double halfway through his term <- a statement with the same amount of proof and the same basis in reality

In the future, we should be better and try to have a legitimate discussion. I think it would be nice if we instead said something like, "Gee, I hadn't thought about it that way! I guess you might be right, and if I imagine that China has executed any given person hard enough, it becomes true!" or something along those lines.
