Imagine waiting all that time and then realizing somehow the hash is wrong, and having to get it again. Genuinely surprised to hear someone using 2G data, given 3G was phased out as is. Didn't even realize you could. At an average of 21KB/s, ~~I genuinely had a faster internet connection with dial-up when I was a kid, which as I recall reached exciting speeds like 35KB/s sometimes.~~ Misremembered, it averaged 35Kb/s, so it was significantly slower than 2G (4KB/s vs 21KB/s). It also made cool ass sounds when you connected, truly a marvelous experience.

What do they say about the furry femboy, Jimbo?

Do you accept shitty, half-assed, sticky-note doodles?

Doodle and story behind itSticky note doodle of a crudely drawn anthro fox, Foxfire. He is smiling and waving.

I drew this doodle after getting another from a different artist. A little over a year ago, an artist I was following decided to put up a small sticker shop, so I went ahead and got one to show her a little support. The sticker was nice enough when it arrived of course, but alongside it was a personal thank you doodle from her. That gesture of a pure and personal desire to communicate through art is something I treasure dearly. To this day, that doodle is stuck to my computer desk alongside the sticker, and I'm gonna hold onto that little doodle for the rest of my life if I can.

At the time, the doodle inspired me to try and very quickly make something of my own. In my head I imagined maybe spending a minute or so without erasing anything, so I ended up with this. Despite the result, I love seeing it, and I actually stuck him on my door. It was never about the quality, but about the events, emotions, and process that lead to what I expressed. When I see it, I am reminded of that fact every day. I do not lament art being "bad," I am grateful for everyone who wishes to express themselves through art.

Yeah moderation is the toughest part, especially considering this is a very general "just post whatever" community. Especially as it continues to get less obvious, I'd hate to see AI witch-hunt type comments against either actual artists, or maybe a random person dropping a saved meme they didn't even realize was generated themselves. For a place I mod which is largely populated by art posts (furry_irl) I opted to require artist credit in the title or post body when applicable, but that seems like it could be a bit tedious for 196.

I think the best case would be something like "we reserve the right to remove posts we believe are machine generated," but also "do not attack others about it, discuss tactfully, send reports for posts you reasonably believe are generated instead for moderator discretion."

Yeah, there's actually hostile architecture in this pic too. That middle bit on the bench is designed to make sleeping very uncomfortable, and the poor dog is doing it anyway.

This is also why satire is dead, but I digress.

March 32nd already? Where has the time gone...

The bigger the balls, the bigger the bills you get paid.

Also I know this is a crosspost but we're an _irl community, please edit and title it some word, followed by _irl (e.g. Class_irl). Thank you!

Living vicariously through the lives of cats is totally a personality trait! Now if you'll excuse me I have some important :3c messages to send to OTHERS because apparently YOU don't appreciate them.

The good news is you're getting a basement! The bad news is it's your current first floor...

Take it as a compliment, the judge thinks you just pulled all that out of thin air. "Imagine what could've happened with pre-planning" the judge thinks. "The whole city could've been leveled!" They're afraid of your genius, let them be!

Even with fingers, if your palms are facing towards you, this advice will backfire immediately.

We're having a meal together! I saw Vaporeon in the corner stand of a flea market, and decided to adopt them. Now they will have a place to call home again, and hugs too!

A silly short animation I made about a pun because I love dad jokes! Also I figure it's a good way to show off Peertube, since most everything here is YouTube links.

I noticed a quite lovely funnel web yesterday morning! The maker was hiding of course, so I figured I'd lightly tap the web's edge with a piece of straw. That absolutely did the trick, and I was impressed with this little spider's speed with checking out the tiny disturbance! They explored the web for a couple minutes, and I tried to take some pictures to show off both the web and it's owner. I liked this one the most, so I'm sharing it with you all!

Saw this little one when I was out at a store, looks like goldenrod soldier beetle! Their coloration really stood out amongst the gray carts, so I was quickly drawn to them, and tried taking some close-up images!

I took this a little while back with a macro lens I had on my old phone. I was amazed at just how close I got, there are lots of very visible features here that I'd entirely overlook seeing a grasshopper minding themselves out in the world. I'm appreciative they stood still long enough to take the picture, as you might imagine even some tiny movement would've made this a blurry mess.

When you get your duck friend, you're supposed to whisper a cool name into their ear, and they'll be yours forever. I went with the name Foucault, after the creator of the Foucault Pendulum (Léon Foucault). A simple and elegant way to not only showcase the Earth's rotation, but also your approximate latitudinal location too (because the time it takes to complete a full rotation is influenced by your distance from the poles).

Anyway, science stuff aside my duck friend is incredibly soft, and has little beans in the bottom half so they can sit upright without having to balance them! I love giving them hugs and seeing them every day when I get back from work. Being that they are a tall and thin duck, I find them pretty difficult to photograph. Hopefully this side shot of them laying in bed is enough to showcase their cuteness!

A spider I happened to notice a while back while out and about. Its markings and size caught my eye, as it was very different from the spiders I typically see around here. I doubt they are rare, but it was new to me and I wanted to get a close up picture. It might not look particularly close, but it's a phone camera with no optical zoom. I was only a couple of inches from the subject and didn't want to disturb them.

Gone Fishin' (OC) (d.furaffinity.net)

She's gone fishin', and here's the big catch of the day! Sure she could just jump in and grab one, but kicking back with the ol' line is much more relaxing.

Went with lined subject and line-less background elements. I've seen it before in media and am considering doing it more in the future, kinda draws more attention to the character(s).

In the fridge today to cool off a bit, here are my two plushie friends! Why two? Well let me tell you the story of how I got each:

I was shown this web series by the same name a while back by a friend and quite liked it, so when I eventually found out they made plushies of Chikn, I wanted one quite badly. Unfortunately, by the time I found out, they were already gone. I ended up waiting a few months, but after just figuring they were never coming back, I went to various websites and found a whole mountain of bootlegs. I figured what the heck, he looks a little silly but I will love him all the same!

Quite a few months passed after I got the first one and I ended up hearing that the original plushies were coming back too. So what did I do? I got another plushie of course as soon as I could! Now that I have both friends I kinda have the best of both worlds. The official plushie is one of the ones I handle sparingly and give little hugs, while the bootleg is one of my sleeping buddies!

Mono-spaced type has been all but removed from places on the internet, so it's no surprise larger scale ASCII art isn't common anymore. But have any of you made such stuff way back when, or perhaps more recently for nostalgic fun?

I made this at the end of 2022 when I realized Notepad++ was mono-spaced by default, and wanted to try creating my sona. Text is an interesting medium to work with, it reminds me of pixel art in a way due to the constraints. That and for the first time in my life I found a use for the insert key, absolutely amazing.
