I've never yet ridden Nathan's bus, but I do read and love Nathan's blog. Checked out his first book from the library, but it was so darn good I had to buy a copy, so I'm delighted to hear that he's written a second book.

What are the chances we'll have an actual election in 2028? 50/50 seems optimistic.

Say Trump announces that you're not a citizen, that gay marriage doesn't exist, that all women must give birth annually, whatever. If you're victimized by it, and have the money or can find a freebie lawyer, maybe you sue the federal government, and maybe you win. But even if you win, you only win for you. The millions of others in exactly your same situation each need to file their own lawsuits, and hope to win. (Unless it's a class action lawsuit, which involves separate and very, very difficult legal hurdles.)

If I'm understanding this wrong, and cripes I hope I am, please 'splain it to me.

Only in the aftermath will we know which moment was the final toppling, but for now, I'd nominate this.

Human decency is strange and rare, these days.

Dude fucked up. Dude got in trouble. Dude ought to be ashamed and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he is. I don't yearn to have the mob come after him.

I love ya, Mother Jones, but Marines sign up to follow orders. If they're ordered to shoot me, they'll shoot me.

Katie Porter is one of the very few good guys. She'd be a terrific governor for California, so I expect the Democratic Party will do all they can to oppose her.

I have a right-wing neighbor who voted Trump three times, says climate change is a hoax, and hates me for sometimes wearing a tie-dye jacket, but he says with a grin all over his face, "Did you hear about that insurance CEO who got shot dead?" and he laughs and laughs and gives me a thumbs-up.

America stands united.

I will try to hold back too many profanities, but it's seriously FUCKED UP that anyone but this woman and her doctor know that she's pregnant, with a doomed fetus, and needs an abortion, and it's FUCKED UP that anyone gets to overrule her decision, and it's FUCKED UP that she has to flee the state during an obviously traumatic time, and it's FUCKED UP that the FUCKERS will vilify her now, hell maybe even prosecute her, and it's FUCKED UP that making a difficult time much more difficult is "good politics" in the state of Texas, which, by the way, is an utterly FUCKED UP place.

Like Trump, Santos never told the truth about anything, but remember that a majority of Republicans in the House, 112 of 222, voted not to expel him.
