Company is going to challenge that they can't give that away for privacy reasons.

But they can sell it for profit reasons.

They no longer provide a free tier. It was 10 login entries and I think 5 simultaneous logins.

I use Dashlane myself. It's free tier is 10 logins which is a bit of a joke.

I like Keepass and do use it for my non-critical stuff. I sync using syncthing

Edit: Dashlane no longer offers a free tier.

He's going to switch parties. I guarantee it

It reminds me of how I drew a car when I was a kid.

The fact that it made it through any sort of testing says more about Elon's ego than his business accumen.

I'm going to argue that you share it because one thing you can count on is very determined nerds to defeat it.

Every time legislators tried to enforce some sort of dystopian thing, developers saw it as damage and routed around it.

Jeremy Bearimy baby.

Omg you weren't exaggerating:

“Your request that ‘the federal government should give a $5,000 tax rebate for all new electric car purchases’ means that the federal government must take that money out of the pockets of hardworking people who may not have the means to buy an electric vehicle in the first place,” Foxx wrote. “YOU and your classmates will be responsible for paying down the national debt,” she added pointedly, arguing that climate change wasn’t as pressing as the ballooning of the national debt.

Maybe, just maybe, he's considered this and he's willing to do that so, you know, there will be a future to pay the debt into?!

She offered him links to learn more about climate change from Fox News, National Review, The Washington Times, and the Wall Street Journal editorial board.

You know...gotta be love the brand of the GOP. Absolutely no science journals.

“‘Incidentally, please ask your teacher to explain propaganda to you,” Foxx wrote.

You know what....nevermind. No notes.

God I haven't used this in a while...

It's the same people who love Trump if he were to shoot some one on Fifth Avenue.

But would hate him if he gave people the COVID vaccine on Fifth Avenue

How can I abuse this?

I updated my Pixel 10 Pro with the latest Pixel software (BP4A.260105.004.E1) and noticed that notifications for things like Signal, news alerts, discord, etc. even though the notifications are there when I pull down the notification bar.

I initially thought it was the new notification "groups" but turned that off.

I don't have "Do Not Disturb" set since my phone is perpetually turned on silent.

The odd thing is that they selectively show up throughout the day. Some conversations show while others don't.

This seems like a setting something I need to change so that I see the icons. Does else have this problem?

Almost 10 months ago, I posted in here that I was switching to Waterfox since Mozilla switched from the MPL to their own proprietary license.

After the initial transition, I pretty much used Waterfox like Firefox and there were only a few edge/corner cases where the browser did not function as expected. They were often fixed within a few days via a browser update.

An interesting bug has surfaced where the history database got corrupted and there was no way to repair it and I'm having to recreate my profile. While it's not the end of the world, it very annoying. I haven't been able to isolate why. I wish there was a way to script installing extensions and migrating settings.

Overall, it's doing what a browser should be doing. Showing me the web.

How are you all doing with it?

Not sure if this belongs here but felt it was appropriate.

I hope this is okay to post here. If not, let me know where I should go.

I built a standard table using mostly scrap wood. The top is a very nice piece of half-inch plywood, attached to 2x4 apron surrounding the sides. Legs are screwed into the apron (not mortise and tenoned because I was lazy). I'm typing on it now with a laptop and seems sturdy now but when I put my monitor setup, it becomes very top heavy. Since I tend to "pull" on my desk to move my chair, it would likely topple, which would be very bad™.

I've been frantically searching online of ways to counter-act this and methods don't seem clear as to how they work. For example, some woodworking websites suggest adding cross braces across the legs. The page doesn't explain why this works. I am guessing it spreads the force of weight across the braces towards the back legs?

I also found some plans that show a rising standing desk. Ignoring the moving parts, I saw that the legs were parallel to the desk, joined by what I'll assume is mortise and tenon. This plan seems a bit more doable with the tools I have, and has a similar shape.

My monitor stand also functions as a rising desk and MUST sit on the front of the desk. So the apron is set back roughly 5 inches in the front so that it can clamp in. I estimate it's roughly 20 pounds with the monitors on it. I know I could just buy 20 pounds of weight and put it on the back but given that tables should be tables, I figured I would ask here for suggestions.

I've got family stuff today and I'll try to reply as I am able. Thanks in advanced.

Edit: THANK YOU for all of the suggestions.

I added a cross brace across the back as well as a cross brace on either side of the desk, with a 6" extension. The desk immediately became sturdy with just one brace but I added the second. It held my 200lbs ass on the front without issue.

Not sure if this is the right community so if not, let me know.

I could have sworn I saved it but can't seem to find it. The lemmy post was about a website that would forward URLs but the presenting URL was something akin to https://thehacxorgroup.org/load/virus/exec/run.bat and you could have that forward to a rickroll or something.

Ideally, I'm looking for the post itself, but happy to take just the website that provides the service.

Thanks!

My extended family have planned a trip to Mexico for almost a year now. I told them earlier this year that I may not want to go given everything that's happening at the border and locally.

Some context: the majority of my family is white (i.e. the right kind of white) while I am a US-born Asian American. My parents (naturalized immigrants) and my in-laws think I'm over-reacting but I am concerned that me and my parents may have trouble re-entering the US when we return.

I've been very vocal, especially online, about the state of affairs of the country. I've gone to two protests (without my phone). However, I am growing concerned that taking my phone may be dangerous, especially given how I essentially have no rights at the border.

My family is insisting that I take my phone. Besides the fact that I need to be reachable, they want me (the resident techie) to be able to find places to go, do currency conversions, etc. On my phone, I'm logged into things like lemmy and have various authentication methods (e.g. TOTP, ssh keys, etc.) that could grant the government access to other areas of my digital life. My phone also has access to my password manager, which I plan to log out if I take my phone with me.

I'm wondering if I am overreacting or if I have a legitimate concern. I know hundreds, if not thousands, cross the border without issue. But also know there is a non-zero chance that I will be questioned.

I have thought about getting a burner smart phone and then formatting the phone when I re-enter. My family doesn't like the idea, but they are okay with it.

The other option I thought about was using my Pixel's "second user" feature to run with a dummy account using a passphrase (verses biometrics) for unlocking the phone. Once I clear security, I would delete the second user and then proceed as normal. The problem with this approach is that if they clone the phone (I don't know of CBP have the ability to do so, but wouldn't put it pass them), I'm essentially shit out of luck.

Am I being paranoid? Are there other things I should consider?

I'd love for people of color to chime in, especially if you have crossed the border recently.

I'm not new to Android, but new to Lawnchair and was able to download and install Lawnchair 15 Beta 1 Google Play release.

So far, I really like it. Folders in the app drawer was great, though it requires a bit more work. I know it's a beta so I'm keeping my expectations in check.

I'm moving over from Smart Launcher, which I moved to from Nova Launcher. There are two main features that I don't know I'm just not seeing or if they don't exist:

  • Access to Hidden Apps: I like to hide my NSFW apps for obvious reasons. It seems like the way to access hidden apps is to go to Settings, App Drawer, and then selectively unhide the app you want to use and then hide it again when you are done. Is that correct? This seems very round-about. Smart Launcher's hidden drawer feature is really useful and would like to see something similar in Lawnchair
  • Gestures for home screen icons: I like to keep my home screen as minimalistic as possible. I use "swipe up" and "double-tap" gestures on icons on the home screen to toggle alternate apps. For example, I double-tap "Phone" to get to "Contacts", double-tap "Messages" to open "Google Voice". I don't see this feature at all for Lawnchair. Am I missing an option or does Lawnchair not have this feature.

Thanks!

Angela Collier (the same woman who posted an almost 1 hour video about how Target failed to understand their customers when they stood down their DEI programs) posted this video that summarizes the problem with AI.

Edit: A few comments mention the power imbalance between Lewinsky as an intern and the president. This meme shouldn't be seen as me approving of Clinton's behavior but point out that an adult man having "sexual relations" with a child should have some bearing against a sitting president.

If Clinton is in the Epstein files, show the world.
