I can't speak for anybody else, but I for one an a HUGE idiot.

I'm greedy. I want the live in a clean and safe society. Empirical data exists that shows one way to achieve this is the Scandinavian model; high tax funding social services.
At least, that's how I dress it up.
The democrats are objectively better for the majority of the population. Science has a liberal bias and all that.
What many of the dem leaders and commentors are missing is that's not enough. Blaming and shaming people online, even if you're right which as I covered you objectively are, isn't going to win the election. A lot of people voted for Trump because they feel left out and unheard. Maybe they should be, after all some of them hold dangerous ideas like climate change denial or think giving underrepresented people's a chance is unfair.
But that's just not enough. Being right isn't enough. Pointing out their idiocy only serves to entrench them and scare away moderates. You might say, not voting means they're dumb, right or wrong that comment doesn't help your cause. Being objectively correct didn't win the last election. Until the democrats acknowledge that optics are more import than correctness they're going to fight an uphill battle. A very steep one.
Perhaps, but maybe it doesn't matter. I want to live in a society where people are kind to one another, where they listen to one another, and where they have the opportunity to be prosperous. From my experience the place I was born, (BC, Canada), is trending away from that. I believe helping these lost youngsters become better people would help reverse that trend, and I think one of the first steps towards helping them is to have more empathy.
Lots of people have an external locus of control and I don't know if that's easily changed, but I do know it doesn't mean that they have to be hateful.
I think you got downvoted because it wasn't clear what you were saying, so people misunderstood. That's why I asked, because I don't like to assume I know what people are saying, I prefer to have them tell me.
If I understand your comment, you are wondering out loud. Perhaps some of the other readers thought you were trying to make a point about something.
Thank you for elaborating!
Ok. Tell me about Lex Fridman. I've never read that name before.
When you consume social media in China you see a lot more travel influencers, foodies, educational reels, and generally more positive content. People who post rage content there get banned.
So yes, they have influencers, but the social media I've seen out here is more moderated. Not true for all countries of course, you can get the same TikTok in Japan, and there are LOTS of hateful comments on the Japanese internet.
Very direct. They could lie about it. Better to ask conceptually I think.
There are actors building influence who benefit by more males being this way. They target ladies too, but in different ways. They are determined and focused.
I'm not trying to defend them, but the lonely guy to incel pipeline is a real thing. They are targeted, propagandized, and monetized. I believe people are responsible for the decisions they make, so I'm not saying they aren't to blame for that, but I am saying it's more complex than just that.
Back in my day when I was living on the street we called them volcels. And by back in my day I mean a few years ago, and by the street I mean discord.
The more I learn the dumber I am. Before I was dumb but now I'm dumb and can better quantify it.
