If the law passes and the deadline is not met, the app could face a ban. On Thursday, some TikTok users opened their apps and encountered this message:

This will damage millions of businesses, destroy the livelihoods of countless creators across the country, and deny artists an audience.
Let Congress know what TikTok means to you and tell them to vote NO.
This is surprising but not unprecedented. When facing potential regulation, Facebook, Uber, Airbnb, and many other apps have asked users to lobby on their behalf; TikTok itself has previously made its case directly to the public too. Most of the time, these sorts of things are easy to ignore, and most people do — you tap a little x, or hit the back button, and scroll on. Except when you can’t:
When I opened TikTok today, I got this pop-up that gives you no option to exit or swipe away, the only action is to “call now”
If it was, I'd use it.
Timing of this really feels like it's a trap that's supposed to suppress any youth vote for the democrats. Any young people upset with losing tiktok are not going to vote for the person that signed that ban into existence.
And of course the liberals are all playing directly into it.
I love how it's just "obvious" but they don't really explain why or how.
