Governments need to step the fuck in. Places like Norway should create a decentralised web ASAP, and other European countries should join. Like for example how the Dutch government just created a Mastodon instance for gov communication.
BecomeMe
Social Experiment. Become Me. What I see, you see.
The EU is a lumbering beast but I am confident that this will not slip under their radar.
Wouldn't be surprised if they wind up charging everyone a subscription fee to access websites.
That's ridiculous! Google would never do such a thing!
It will be a 15 second non-skipable ad...
I wish we could stop mentioning the "Don't be evil" motto. That company is so far gone it doesn't even name sense bringing it up. Besides, even when they had motto they were no different than any other big tech company.
I think its important to keep it in our memory, just so we can clearly see how far they've gone and remind ourselves that this shouldn't be normal.
I think the motto "don't be evil" was always stupid, and google did the same stuff under that motto as they did after the motto. Bringing it up just pretends that Google used to be some moralistic and ethical corporation.
They were never any different than any of the other big tech companies.
The Lack of Integrity Web
This is horrible wow
That's fucked up
This rules lol, any signal that can be used to grant access can just as easily be used to deny it, good job Google!
Context: the GitHub link is to a repo that uses the web integrity api to verify that a user is “real” (and therefore uses web integrity) denies access if they find out they are, with an explanation of why (chrome is ass)
