Best part of Lemmy is the lack of Brave bros (Inb4 downvotes, I know you’re still out there)

Us FF buddies got each other's backs, don't worry
Floorp gang!
I'd rather use firefox on desktop. On mobile I recently switched to bromite as default browser and firefox for everything else.
Edit: Looks like bromite is not active anymore. I am once again in search for a chromium browser.
Ditch it on mobile and try Firefox Mobile instead. You can install ublock origin in it, it's great.
I already have Mull for everyday browsing and stuff, but for PWA Mull seems a bit slower. I do use native alpha for PWA but Voyager which is a lemmy web client doesn't work well in native alpha.
Maybe check outCromite, a bromite fork that's updated still.
I use mull for regular browsing, but anything important, and by default, I use Vanadium (grapheneos only). At least until firefox gets site isolation on mobile
This looks promising, I'll give it a go
I use Brave and enjoy it. What's the problem?
When I was testing different browsers for personal use I was personally put off by the gamified crypto stuff when I just wanted a browser.
That's fine. You shouldn't use something you don't enjoy.
I enjoy Brave as a browser and I'll keep using it until I find something that suits me better.

This baby can run so many ads at full 4k, and leave you with just enough resources and bandwidth for 480p video.
This meme is so relatable. I got sick of Chrome and made the switch to Firefox this week, and haven't looked back.
Do you feel a speed/reactivity difference on Google websites (gmail, YouTube, ...) if you use any?
Not who you asked but just switched too and haven't noticed any difference with Gmail, YouTube, docs or sheets.
Not really. The only thing I noticed was that is consumes less CPU.
Welcome!!
Happy to be here!
Firefox is underrated. The only issue I have is sites that are only optimized for Chromium, and especially edge. A lot of businesses and medical websites only develop for and test for 1 browser, and it used to be Internet Explorer, but now it's Edge.
Then there's Microsoft Websites too. I don't know if it's like that anymore, but I always had to use Edge instead of Firefox to subscribe to or cancel Xbox Game Pass in the past.
Yup. Quick books and our government website both require chrome. It's like.... The stuff I do that I most care about not giving to Google, I have to give to Google. Drag.
You can try with chromium based browsers that are more privacy friendly. I find Vivaldi works on sites that don't like Firefox. There's also brave or duck duck go's mobile browser.
I second Vivaldi. It's a great chromium based alternative to chrome, and the level of customisation on offer is jaw-dropping. Its mouse gestures in particular, have been a huge convenience. The only thing about it that irks me somewhat is that it's noticeably slower to start compared to Firefox and Edge.
Vivaldi is non-free so it's a non-starter for me. "Privacy friendly" isn't enough for me, I need the four freedoms.
Will give them a try, thank you!
For me, the only website that creates issues with Firefox is Teams, but it does run on Chromium.
firefox and google chrome nowadays use very similar amounts of resources. However, firefox is (for now) less cringe than google chrome.
personal data
Finally made the switch today.
So why do you still use the Google search engine?
I don't. I chatGPT these days
Is there an actual better alternative?
Pls no say DDG.
Yep, Kagi
Start page is pretty good. From my understanding it uses Google Search Results, just without user-specific results obviously
Firefox is so shit on mobile that it reloads every time I switch to other apps. I once tried to fill up a very long form, and when I tried to look up some information on my notepad app, I switched back to ff it reloaded and all my progress was erased.
It's a bug that has existed for years, and they never bother to fix it.
https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/issues/12731
So I switched to chrome + adblocking DNS on my phone and pc and I never looked back.
edit: Lemmy is becoming circlejerky like Reddit who would have thought. Facts downvoted have you guys even visited the link above it's a widespread issue. My phone is 8gb sd855+ with battery optimization disabled for FF mobile app. This is why I rarely engage.
It was the same for me until I changed phone Now the issue disappeared
That's hardly a solution. It's like when a dog keeps shitting in your house, so you relocate to the other apartment.
They praise FF while easily dismissing major bugs that force users to switch to other browsers using their anecdotal evidence. Yes, FF PC is nice and solid but I mostly browse on my phone nowadays.
Nope still the same. The issue is very common. 8gb, sd855+, no optimization for firefox mobile and still reloads everytime I switch apps.
It happened to me when I still used and old Moto g7 play with only 200mb free of ram so the phone needed to kill it it in order to load the other app, making Firefox "refresh" itself.
But that's the only time it happened to me.
I mean yeah but my phone is 8gb ad855+ and battery optimization disabled but is still reloading. It's a widespread issue visit the link above or try googling it.
I remember encountering this issue before I switxhed to a more powerful one that can run multiple apps in parralel (split screen)
I didnt think it still existed now, but following the bug tracker, did you do the dom.ipc.processPrelaunch.lowmem_mb modification? I am quite curious
I have both chrome and firefox installed. Uses firefox more along with ublock origin addon.
Yeah chrome is sorta bad, but I had a Firefox that was running for a few weeks or so that was using over 30 gigs of ram. No exaggeration.
Tbf that's your fault. This would never happen to a pro like me. (My machine has only 8GB RAM.)
