Thankfully the smart monkeys invented valves that only open for long enough when they are hot enough, so there is no longer any danger of accidentally leaving a gas range open with no flame.

Often when you go somewhere and it smells like propane, it's not a leak. Propane is odorless so we give it that smell, and when tanks reach near empty they start smelling a lot more.

Obviously don't take chances, but gas stoves are not dangerous. Look up some older shit women in the 30-40s cooked with.

Edit: PSA: But we are still monkeys and some places are more dangerous than others. Don't take chances if you smell gas, and don't leave it on for fun. Be safe, look both ways before you cross the street, and don't believe everything you read on the internet. Gas is really bad for the air quality in your home and the only power we really need is the mitochondria.

My gas stove can stay on indefinitely with no flame. There's no regulations requiring it in all stoves, and not everyone has a modern high end stove. Seriously dangerous to just blanket statement say all gas stoves are safe.

It's a lie to just blanketly say "there is no longer any danger of accidentally leaving a gas range open with no flame." Yes flame failure detectors exist, but (in the US anyway) there is no regulation requiring them, and is usually reserved for the higher end models of modern stoves. The vast majority of existing stoves have nothing more than a simple valve and nothing stopping it from being left open and unlit.

From propaneHQ.com. "It is important to note, however, that if you smell propane at any time in your house, you should take it seriously and take appropriate safety measures.". Dude you should not just be getting used to the smell of propane. Ferrelgas, Amerigas, & Foster Fuels all say if you can smell it, it is either empty or leaking, but it needs to be shut off either way.

Gas stoves aren't very dangerous in that particular way. They're still burning hydrocarbons in your house. Air quality in houses with gas stoves is much worse, and that comes with health problems.

This is true! It's much more likely to hurt you while the flame is on, to put it simply.

I never said it wasn't dangerous when the flame was burning.

Btw, it's also bad for your skin if you put your finger to the flame.

Why didn't you make it smell good? ☹️

Too bad I don't have a gas stove or I'd want to do this for myself.
